Happy Good Friday · 4:27pm Apr 18th, 2014
Yes, this Friday is very very good.
Because last night was the end of 18 straight days of working one job or the other, or both.
So I'm going to be spending today moving as little as possible.
Hoping to finish the next chapter for Learning To Laugh Again either today or tomorrow.
And for my savings plan for the gaming rig, I've finally come up with something semi-solid.
First thing, I'm going to is save up $3500; which is three months of living expenses once they increase when I move.
I had a great start this week. By cooking nearly every meal at home, and bringing my lunch to work, I saved a total of $106. Adding that up to what I had in the large jar of dollar coins, I have a grand total of $1106. A fantastic start so far.
... Dat money. It's amazing when those little things sneak up at you like that. Our silly brains don't notice a lot of small purchases that lead toward a lot of lost money, but agonize over a very large purchase. And yet, in the end, money is still money. Did you 'suffer' with your food quality? I mean... damn, dude, that's thousands of dollars a year.
2021513 Probably. A bunch of microwavable meals that I just put in a backpack for the 30-minute bike ride to work.
During the next walk to the grocery store, I may upgrade to deli sandwiches.
2021527 Your call. Rotate, perhaps, so you can get a soft, squishy middle ground of money saved and food. Personally, I love food, but not when I'm paying for it. I'm ultra stingy when it comes to food I pay for myself. Not my thing.
Soon, that 780 ti will be yours. Yes... excellent~
2021530 Yeah, a big part of that came from the steakhouse that I usually do on Sundays, after insane work weeks. I have ceased doing that.
It's fun taking cheap ingredients and making a quality dish.

You can increase the savings threefold by learning to cook for yourself. For instance:
2 lbs beef @ $3.9/ lb = ~$8
2 large onions @ $1.49/lb = $2.50
3 cloves garlic @ $.98/bulb = $.20
3 cups water = free from the tap
2 cans tomato sauce @ $1/per on sale = $2.00
2 cans diced tomatoes = ditto
seasonings = dirt cheap when you buy in bulk and divide them into countless meals
2 cups macaroni = even cheaper.
That recipe comfortably serves 8 and costs a little over $13. That's half a week's worth of meals for less than the cost of three subway footlongs.

I AM cooking for myself..
2021547 Ah, when you said microwavable meals, I assumed some of that frozen junk. My bad.
2021544 Yeah... I don't eat red meat. I literally don't get why you people like that. Yes, you people! Rabble rabble!
It's expensive, not good for you, and I don't see the flavor. Rant over. Lol. Not really a rant. Just... money to pleasure ratio I don't see it. I'd die if I didn't go two days without chicken though.
That alone could be twenty - or forty - a week there. There's this fantastic pizza joint that sells two massive 16 inch pizzas on Tuesday for 30 dollars with up to eight toppings. I usually get the veggie supreme and meat supreme. Lasts me several days.
2021547 Also, you know you're going to end up getting destiny anyway.
2021551 Probably not. They still have not proven it's a glorified Borderlands MMO that can be enjoyed on your own.
