    Update (Without excuses this time!)

Guess what? I'm done writing the next chapter of Manifesto.

I just need to give my prereaders a day or two to look over it, and then it'll go up.

Until then, here's Despacito being played on a guzheng.

    Hey, everyone.

I've somehow gotten out of the habit of posting updates. Oops.

Anyway, you've no doubt noticed that I don't post as often as I once did in the past. This is largely because improvements in my life situation mean I have the wherewithal to engage in hobbies other than writing fanfiction.

    Update.

Goodness, it's been a while, hasn't it? You're probably wondering why my pace has slowed down on Manifesto. Well, there are several reasons, but the most relevant one is that I find myself rewriting large swaths of this chapter as I zero in on the best plan for Sunset to take. I'm basically going back and forth between two ideas that can't really be combined into a single one, and for

    New Story Incoming

In case you missed my last blog post, I'm taking a break from the adventures of Celestia and Daring Do to write the next Petriculture story. At this point it looks like it'll be fairly short -- about two chapters long -- and I recently finished up the first chapter, which will be posted once my prereaders give it a final once-over.

Holy crap that episode was awesome. And, as a bonus, Wild Sweet & Cool can still plausibly fit with canon. Yay!

Highlights:

1. Equestrian history!

2. Adorable animal sidekicks!

3. Late 80's rap video! Also, Vinyl Scratch apparently does turntablism, as well as EDM-style DJing.

4. Costumes!

5. Granny Smith apples are apparently named after Granny Smith, who discovered them when she was a filly, which in turn means that her parents actually named her "Granny Smith," and the "Granny" part isn't just a nickname she picked up upon becoming a grandmother. Pony names are weird sometimes.

6. Rainbow Dash is apparently the ponified version of Shawn Spencer from Psych when she's flying (I'd say Sherlock Holmes, but Rainbow Dash has actual social skills). I am going to somewhat disappointed if nobody uses this when writing fanfiction.

7. EUP can be pronounced "Eeyup." I somehow didn't notice that until Big Mac said it.

It was a great episode.
Not sure if she would've gotten a hundred percent.
Would she pass? Probably.
But not a hundred percent.
:rainbowhuh:
I'm truly sorry Rainbow.
:rainbowwild:
Don't you stick your tongue out at me!
:rainbowderp:
:rainbowdetermined2:
Oh shit...

WOHOO PSYCH REFRENCE! Not the episode I just mean you I love it any time someone mentions Psych (hence my making a group for Psych)...

I'm gunna link the Theme Song now.

I wonder, was Easy Glider a double indirect reference, via Easy Rider biker, to Tom Cruise, Top Gun? :rainbowhuh:

Firefly isn't RD's mom! HEADCANON'S CRUSHED!

That awful quality 80's PSA reminded me of this

Also MTV

They even went full 80s style and effects. I forgot how bad educational rap was. Make it stop!

Also, don't freak out about General Firefly. There's no rule saying she's the only pony to ever have that name. Heck, RD's fannon mom could have been totally named after her.

1983485 I SAID DON'T FREAK OUT!

1983705 Eeeyup! RD would most definitely not remember the pony who created the Wonderbolts and has HER MOM'S NAME?! Sorry, but no. :facehoof:

I posted this in another blog comment, but..
Celestia's favorite maneuver: the Icaranean Sun Salutation. I guess it's what Rarity did in the episode Sonic Rainboom :trollestia:

Honestly, I didn't really like it. The idea that Dash would avoid reading anything Wonderbolt-related after embracing her inner egghead kind of boggles the mind. Also, I felt the rap video was a bit much, and that's coming from a guy who had Pinkie create Equestria.

Good worldbuilding, good lesson, but the premise itself rubbed me the wrong way. :applejackunsure:

1983782 Becuase she totally wouldn't have had a "what was their name? No, that's my mom's name" moment.

1983835 I agree, rap is one thing Pinkie should not have brought back from her planar journey.

What I came away wondering was who happened to have costume versions of the royal regalia just lying around.

:twilightsheepish::twilightblush:

1984469 Well, clearly Rarity does. :raritywink: (I mean, if somepony is going to just have the costumes lying around, well of course it's Rarity.)

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if thousands of fanfics suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear a new episode of MLP has come out. :pinkiehappy:

1983835 I have to agree. Given how near fanatic Dash has been about the Wonderbolts I find it a little hard to believe doesn't know everything about them already.

Although I did like the episode over all, and got a kick out of rapping Pinkie.

1984548

You might think that, but who do we know with an alicorn fixation? Maybe Twilight doesn't get as much use out of them anymore, buuuut...

I don't know, just because you love something doesn't mean all the dry minutiae wouldn't be dry.

Rapping Pinkie was more amazingly awkward than I could have hoped for.

I, too, like that you mentioned Psych. But now I'm wondering if RD's characterization fits what we've seen in other episodes; i.e., it's a little strange this never came up before.

1983835
I actually don't think so. We have seen that Rainbow Dash knows everything about the Wonderbolt's air maneuvers, and the current generation of flyers. She doesn't seem like a pony that would care much about history, she even says as much in the episode. Her reading so far has been focused on adventure stories, and history books are not even close to that. So, her not knowign anything about Wonderbolt history seems perfectly in character to me.

Random bit of trivia for the day: Granny Smith apples actually really were named after a woman known as "Granny Smith"... Although in that case, she was a grandmother first, and picked up the nickname before ever discovering the new variety. She was also Australian, for what it's worth.
