New Roam Innovatus -- All A Matter of Perspective · 12:25pm Mar 30th, 2014
There's something that's been bothering me for a while now. Or rather, someone. A very strange person, who has nonetheless been the source and cause for all dealings I've had on this site. He and his friends, that is.
Goldwreath, I'm looking at you. The way you speak and narrate, the way you evoke emotions and the way you convey things... all well and good, if in an odd 'Ancient-Greek/Roman(Roaman?)-Philosopher' kind of way. At the least, I see you fitting well in their time, what with how you interact with people.
But I think it's time your story gets told with other voices. What of your friends? Skyfire, Myst, Doodle? Perhaps Predator? Zaita? Or even my own voice? Would you have your story told the way the enigmatic Delvius desires? Whatever the case, the truth is that I think those good Roamans out there would appreciate hearing things from other perspectives, too. You're busy now, you know. Roam needs your full attention. But your friends are free, if to their own chagrin; they want to help you, but they're just not as proficient with the workings of the Roaman machine as you are.
Time to tell your story from more perspectives, eh?

Okay! Long story short, I'm thinking of telling some chapters of New Roam Innovatus from the perspective of other characters. There may be a set amount of chapters and a recurring pattern. For example, 7 chapters as Goldwreath, 3 as Myst, 3 as Skyfire, so on and so forth. There are a few reasons I'm seriously considering doing this. One is that I feel, as said above, that Goldwreath's 'Ancient Philosopher' kind of narrative is good for some things, but just not everything. I want to make the story as good as it can be, and if that means plugging the holes in a character's narrative by using his friends' strengths instead, then so be it. Another reasons is that I want to practice being able to write more kinds of personalities.
Now, that particular reason sprouts from the fact that my college course is BFA Creative Writing. I have to be creative, obviously, and I feel that being proficient at writing just one kind of style isn't all that creative. So I hope this endeavor will assist me in preparing myself for the course (and future) ahead.
Speaking of College... I finally graduated (8 days ago)! That dude on the right is me; left is my best friend.
You know, a multiple-perspective narrative can really work well, if you can pull it off. I'd recommend reading Game of Thrones if you want an idea what that kind of narrative might look like or certain chapters of Fallout: Equestria - Outlaw, specifically nearer the end, that actually did this.
I agree with Tonto. If done well, a multi-perspective narration can make the story much better. Game of Thrones is a great example.
Oh, and congratulations on the graduation!
Congratulations!
And I agree with what everyone else is saying, if you can pull it off it would be a great addition to the story.
Congratulations!
I've seen the whole multi-perspective thing before, and I've to say that it can work well if you know what you're doing. Have you ever read Warriors? The 2nd, 3rd, and possibly 4th arcs are in a multi-perspective form; there great books btw.

Alright, I'll go see if I can grab a PDF of GoT to read and learn from. Thanks guys.
Also, Regolit was right. I made a mistake in saying that right was my best friend and left was me; it's actually the other around, eheh.
ALSO, something I may have failed to mention but might be extremely significant is that, unlike GoT's multi-perspective which takes place in the 3rd person, mine will use the 1st person narrative.

That will make it all the more interesting, to get glimpses into the minds of different characters. First person would probably be the most effective to use in that regard.
And don't worry about the English, our language is probably one of the most inconsistent. Even people that have it as a main language can't manage to use it 'properly' all the time.
1968154 OH SHIT. Yeah dude, I got it, I just forgot! Sorry about that man. Yeah, it was nice, if a bit odd at first glance. Modern-ish ruins with ancient weapons/armor lying around and all that, but then I realized that Roam IS a modern place.
1969782 Oh. I thought that claymore near the bottom right was a piece of a pauldron. Eheh, nevermind.
HOLY SHIT YOU'RE EIGHTEEN?
Either way, I would absolutely fucking LOVE to see some chapters from the POV of Myst. Snipers tend to have interesting minds
