So, status update: my new job is absolutely killing my free time, but I am at least making money again. And as anyone who knows me will attest, I am a complete whore for money. Currently, that means writing has taken a back seat to earning cold hard cash. On a side note, if you live in Houston you might just find me in one of your local grocery or big box stores hawking goods to you. It's not glamorous, but it pays the bills. Well, that and trips to Vegas. Just went there a week ago and made a six-hundred dollar profit. Derek be rolling in Benjamins, baby! Woo!
However, my desire to write is never far off. Today was my rest and recouperation day. Tomorrow, I begin to write anew after a (terribly long) absence. The good news is that I've used the time to help plan out more of the story and clarify a few points, so in the future I should be able to write towards my goals and the core plot points.
Now, for the even better news (as a reward for all y'all who have read this far): there are a few really amazing pieces of fan-art coming down the pipeline that I can't wait to share with y'all. But most importantly, I might be able to goad the friend I went to Vegas with to do a professional-quality reading of the story sometime in the future. He owes me after Vegas.

1955580 ever heard of the Black Plague. They were clad in very heavy coats and such as well as a white mask resembling a long beaked bird that helps them not get sick themselves. It didn't usually work.
If you've ever played scp containment breach, the plague doctor is a Euclid class hostile that you meet later on in the game. And he is terrifying. Well, not in the game, but me imagining him in real life is. Also, he is extremely fast. If you wanna know the messed up crap he does to those who are caught by him, go to the scp foundation website. He's one of the first thousand.
