So Luna is awesome as heck. And she really takes her job seriously, that's for darn sure.
A Sweetie Belle centered episode. Rarity wasn't insufferable this time around, which was good, and I'm quite happy with the dream sequence. Also given what we see of Luna-in-Dreams she definitely has the task of keeping a close eye on nightmares. Which kind of implies godlikeesque powers. The dolphins were cued relatively early on, and they were so strange as iconography that it made me wonder. And then it was answered!
Generally I liked this one, though mostly for Luna. It wasn't a particularly complex or subtle story, but it was pretty well done.
It was an episode with Luna in it... How can it not be good?
There really should be a spinoff centered on the alicorn sisters or alicorns in general...

Perhaps they should publish a dream diary for Luna
(Only half joking. If they did it, and it was written in a way that is not grating for a grown up reader, I would certainly purchase it.)
Yeah, Luna was definitely the best part for me.
I also liked that we didn't have a rehash of Rarity being thoughtlessly cruel to Sweetie after Sweetie messed things up, which the opening sequence kind of made me worry about. We've been there, done that, and I really didn't want to go over it yet again.
The interesting thing I got caught up on was whether or not Luna's recreation of Sweetie's fifth birthday/her construction of the ruined-by-mockery future for Rarity was illusory or not. There's little canonical evidence either way.
Personally I would imagine the past reconstruction was likely done via dreamwalking Rarity, but the other...the future vision I'm kind of envisioning was a "one possibility of many" sort of thing, rather than any sort of concrete prophecy (which would have been a rare case of the not-self-fulfilling-prophecy...kind of?). Thematically it's perfect.
I am more than a little sad we've seen Luna do these awesome things and haven't seen Tia do much more than raise the sun and get dunked by high-on-love Chryssy. I did like Rarity's portrayal here though, it was a good callback to the S1-esque Rarity she's supposed to be. Jeopordizes her career to help her little sister with a school project? Now that's generosity. Stupid generosity, maybe, but generous.

Luna being the mistress of dreams and possibilities, I imagine it's just a constructed dream rather than a concrete prophecy. We've only seen one prophecy in the whole MLP universe, and that probably was less a prophecy than "the way the magic works" that Celestia wrote down.
It would be nice to see Tia do something. Something kickass and awesome and hella scary.
