Comedy Vs. Sad Tag for C&D · 7:47pm Mar 23rd, 2014
Currently C&D has the 'Sad' tag' on it, but I'm wondering how appropriate that is. The event it's parodying is certainly 'Sad', but the fic itself might not be. The ending certainly isn't going that direction.
If I could, I'd put both 'Sad' and 'Comedy' on the fic, as confusing as that sounds. Alas, I cannot.
So what does everyone think? Should I leave it as is, or swap the tags around?
"Dark Comedy"

There's a thought... I usually associate the dark tag with something a bit grimmer, but Love Tap's actions probably still count...
1949443 "Tragedy" and "Comedy" would also work if those two can be paired.
Really thought, Knighty needs to remove the bullshit restrictions on using certain tags together. It frustrates me that I can't tag "Thirty Moons" both "Slice of Life" AND "Adventure" when it in fact ACTUALLY QUALIFIES AS BOTH.

Huh, I never tried, but I agree that it doesn't make a ton of sense. A story can definitely go through mood shifts that hop genres.

"Tragedy" and "Comedy", in fact, can exist together. How bizarre.
1949447 And contradictory to what Knighty and some others believe, it IS possible to have a slice of life adventure. Because "adventure" doesn't always mean "epic quest". Sometimes it's the little day-to-day things, you know?
If Knighty or any of the other admins had ever read the manga Yotsuba&!, they wouldn't even QUESTION the concept of a slice-of-life adventure.
We need a bittersweet tag...
It's definitely Comedy. No feels were taken from by that story, although parts of my sides were.
1949450 Historically, Comedy would start with a funeral and end with a wedding, while Tragedy would do the opposite.
I agree that your story is a dark comedy, leaning towards comedy. But in this day and age, the two can be blend with minimum hassle & a bit of skill.
