Oh, my:
But these Collected Poems of Maud Pie are ten times better than they have any right to be for having all been written within the last 48 hours. Titanium Dragon, I salute you!

I've been writing and selling stories for longer than a lot of folks reading this have been alive. Check Baal Bunny for more!

Those are pretty darn grand for a weekend's work. I'd say Titanium Dragon is a maudel flash-poet. Glad you pointed me toward them!
They're remarkably good. Thanks for pointing them out!
I skipped over the story cause I'm not a poetry kind of guy.
Then I saw it was by Titanium Dragon and was quite intrigued. I dove in and was not disappointed.
On the surface, they're monotonous and bland poems, there's a lot of emotion and deep meaning. It was excellent.

That kind of:
"Free verse" works best, I've found, when it's firmly in a character's voice. The classic examples are the pieces Don Marquis wrote in his various newspaper columns during the 1920s and '30s as Archy the Cockroach. Maud's got a nice, strong tonality--or maybe atonality would be a better word--and I'm definitely gonna hafta include her in my ongoing group of Ponyville poems.
