"War of Erinn" · 4:47am Mar 17th, 2014

So, I've got another blog for you beautiful people, because that's a thing I do now I guess??? At least, while I wait for Equestria Daily to catch up with their pre-reading queue... *snicker snicker*

I was cleaning my house today, and I stumbled upon a bunch of folders and notebooks from middle school. In one of these folders was a document I vaguely remember writing in about 6th Grade, entitled "War of Erinn." As far as I can remember, it's the first story that I ever wrote in my life. I had just read the first six books in the Warrior Cats series in about a week, and was on a "military civilization" kick. As per expectations, it's pretty bad.

Let's read it! Everything is transcribed exactly from the original.

War of Erinn
By William Antonelli

It was a peaceful night in the land of Erinn. One cloaked man patrolling the Chetland Woods noticed the tranquil night the most. He had long black hair, which could be barely seen under his hood. There had been sightings of axe-men from Abados, and enemy nation, so he was patrolling the woods. Suddenly he heard a rustling in the bushes. Instinctively, the cloaked man drew his long sword and pointed it at the bushes. "Who's there?" He yelled.

"Show yourself!" He shouted again. Just as he was about to swing his sword at the sound, a young boy, no older than 10, came out. "Erinn, it's just me! You wouldn't kill your apprentice, would you?" The young boy replied. "Kastor! What are you doing out so late? Especially on a patrol path; I was about to cut your head off!" Erinn scolded. "But I wanted to fight with you! I mean, if you find anything. I have my sword and armor ready!" He replied.

"My patrol is over. Come, I will walk you home." Erinn said shaking his head. He sheathed his sword and walked home with Kastor. His arrogance is getting bad... Erinn thought. The next day, Erinn woke up to Agama, his mentor and godfather, standing over him. Of course, Erinn screamed. "Get up. Ajax needs to see you." Agama said firmly. Ajax was the military organizer. He arranged training and patrols. (But he and Erinn didn't really get along..) "Yes. I see thank you Agama." As Erinn was getting dressed, he thought of Kastor. He's approaching his 12th birthday. This must be about his late apprenticeship...

He was approaching Ajax who at sight gave a slight sneer. In the same deep voice Erinn heard everyday, he said, "So, how's that miserable excuse for a warrior? He ready for the real thing? I doubt it, after being trained by cushy royalty." Erinn bit back a nasty response and just said, "Yes. He is ready." Just as Ajax was going to respond a big crash was heard from outside. As he opened the door, an elder warrior, Korodine, fell through, dead. A rock was lodged in his stomach, and an arrow in his head. Everyone looked outside, and they saw an army made up of at least 500 soldiers approaching. Leading them was a general who everybody recognized all too well. General Malargi, and fierce warrior and Ajax's rival.

The army was already picking off villagers and gatherers, right when the town bell, which signals all villagers to hide, was rung. But, it looked like it didn't apply to Kastor. Erinn could see him head to head with a peltast, just exchanging blows. Erinn ran out and killed the peltast with a blow to the head. "Erinn! I'm sorry for disobeying orders, but that guy came into my house! Had to fight him!" Kastor pleaded. "I know. Let's go. I did say that we would fight together someday!

Agama was gone fighting. But who was he fighting? Melargi! Agama was just using his fists, while Melargi was using a spear. Agama gave Melargi a blow to the head, which sent him flying. Agama went over to Melargi to check when the corpse bolted up and stabbed Agama just before dying.

Agama fell to the ground just as Erinn screamed. "NO!" Erinn screamed. He then gripped his sword tightly with both hands, and yelled. He turned around and killed the man behind him. The battle continued until the Abados soldiers retreated. Nurses rushed out onto the scene looking on everyone's wounds. The next day, the nation held a burial for all the soldiers that died. Agama was one of them. "Agama...you were my mentor and friend. Rest peacefully." Erinn said solemnly. After that, things took a lighter tone, and Kastor's warrior ceremony took place. Erinn stood by him while he took the ceremony. That night, they went on patrol together, and Kastor looked the happiest he'd ever been.
