Revisions to A Trusted Friend in Science and Ponies finally posted! · 4:28am Feb 23rd, 2014
I have finally posted the revisions to A Trusted Friend in Science and Ponies onto FIMFiction. I apologize that it took longer than I thought after my blog post a week ago, but I made sure to reread these chapters beforehand. And I'm glad I did, because I found a lot of mistakes left over from the revisions and awkward wording. I owe it to you guys to dedicate everything I am to this story. This revision was a large undertaking, so I wanted to be sure that I did it right. So, please reread everything from Chapter 14 onwards and comment on what you think of these changes that I have made.
Changes:
Chapter 03: The Practical Purpose of Portals - Cut out and summarized Chell's explanation of how portal guns work.
Chapter 06: Cryptic Answers - Very minor change. Kept Rover's punishment unknown to be revealed in the next chapter.
Chapter 09: Foreseen Consequences - Rewrote Celestia's letter to Twilight.
Chapter 11: A Forgotten Memory - Removed scene in hospital. It dragged out and slowed pacing.
Chapter 13: The Apology - Trimmed Celestia's conversation with Chell.
Chapter 14: Duel of the White Alicorns - Cut out 2,000 words of filler dialog. Now around 11,000 words
Chapter 15: A Gathering of Friends (New name, or something along those lines) - Cut out almost 3,000 words of filler. Changed Cutie Mark Crusaders to not go with group since they made things more cumbersome. Now 6,300 words.
Chapter 16: A Mortal Bargain - Added a very important scene to justify Celestia's decision. Cut out more dialog. Added 2,000 words, cut 2,000 words
Chapter 17: Now Little Celly is in Here Too - Edited Cutie Mark Crusaders out.
Curious, can you give a quick 3-word blurb to ctrl v to the very important scene?

And continues after the next scene here:
Imma go take a look at it when I'll have time ;)
I am impressed. Most writers when they edit in the middle of their projects end up killing their projects. You actually succeeded: a huge achievement! Now, updates are going to be faster because the story is more coherent, fresher, and easier to write (hopefully). I am excited for you and your story.

Wow, thank you. I haven't seen much praise lately. Well, I can tell you that it was not easy. As you could see, it took several weeks. This was why I was hesitant to do it for so long. But even through that, I managed to write the next chapter and started the one after that. I have to make sure that they are good enough before posting, because it's not easy going back.
But even the best of stories have needed revising, for example, Past Sins. Writers putting time and effort into their works is how they become great. I would never consider letting my one and only story that I've worked so hard on die.
