Sunset Shimmer was by no means a morning person. The alarm went off, and her hoof shot out to silence it, only to fall a bit short. She wound up having to drag herself out from under the covers to finally silence the device. And by then, her blood had already oxygenated the rest of her body. No point in going back to bed now.
She rolled out of bed and landed on all four hooves, raising one to rub an eye as she hobbled into the bathroom. It briefly dawned on her that the cabinets were unusually tall, but didn't think much of it as she reared up, inspecting her reflection. First duties first, her horn lit up and retrieved her toothpaste and toothbrush.
Brushing her teeth always managed to wake her up further, and that would be followed shortly by a shower. As she continued however, she got the nagging feeling that something was amiss, though she couldn't for the life of her realize what it was. Once she'd gargled and spat, she took another moment to study herself in the mirror, her horn still glowing green as she put her supplies away.
... a horn's glow that she hadn't seen since...
She then realized that the clothing she was wearing, was oddly baggy and ill-fitting. Her hoof had been short of the alarm this morning, where she'd hit it perfectly the day before. And she didn't remember having to rear up onto strangely-tall cabinets, because they were a perfect height last night.
The world hadn't gotten bigger. She had gotten smaller.
She was back to normal.
While still in the Human World.
It finally kicked in. She took in a deep breath as she recognized her own face, and quickly dashed out of the bathroom, back to her bedroom. She rooted about the covers, turned stacks of laundry upside down, looking for something that explained why she had turned back into her old form here. But no items or trinkets turned up, and her horn did not react to anything present in the room.
She sat on her haunches on the floor, a haunted look in her face as she finally spoke to herself. "Okay... good news. I'm a pony again. Bad news. Still in technicolor monkey land... where they're liable to dissect me... think Shimmer THINK..."

It's very VERY hard to get me interested in a story set in the EqG universe, but you've somehow managed to do it. You should continue.

Well... kind of going off that Twilight and Sunset were able to turn back to ponies after cross the Mirror. And there was the minor transformation due to the crown.

Sunset Shimmer experienced the sort of abysmal soul-sadness which afflict one of Trotski's Stalliongradi peasants when, after putting in a heavy day's work strangling her mother, beating her coltfriend, and dropping the foal into the city's reservoir, she turns to the cupboards, only to find the cider bottle empty...

Ahhh-hah, that WAS your comment, wasn't it? Yeah, reading that planted this little seed. Thing is I don't know how to /end/ it if I were to flush it out more. So until I have more, a little one-shot is where it will stay.
1863189 But that doesn't imply that the transformation isn't permanent. If you go back through the mirror it'd make sense that you'd be transformed into a pony, whether you were one before or not.
And the transformation through the EoH was only temporary and in the presence of very powerful magic.

A unicorn's magic aura is either based off of their eye color or cutie mark. And I have a strange feeling that Sunset DOES not like the human world much.
Make this a whole story,I think it has a lot of potential.
This DOES have a good story potential for an Equestria Girls episode.
