I'm fine with it as a swear, it doesn't need to mean fuck to work. Saying "Buck that!" sounds fine if buck is just violence.

It is stupid, when "buck" is used in place of "fuck." That being said, there are some places where "buck" or "bucking" work perfectly well as a pony swear word based off their literal meaning of "kicking very hard." If a pony is angry with another pony, "go buck yourself" actually makes more sense than the human version does. Same with "buck you."
ETA: Personally, I tend to use "rut" or "rutting" as the pony version of "fuck" as a coarse term for sex, which is half thanks to Firefly and half because I think it makes perfect sense for ponies.

Pretty much. Though of course it could also be an example of in-universe euphemisms as well (like fudge for fuck and shoot for shit). Amusingly, fuck itself may originally be derived from an old Germanic word meaning "to strike".
Honestly it is also a bit lazy; coming up with creative fake swears is fun! Especially with the Apple family.

However, I could easily see the similarities in the words leading to its use as slang. We say "I'd hit that" it would not be too strange to see ponies say "I'd buck that".

I was personally so tired of the euphemism and slang that I put a whole new spin on the word "buck" in a story I wrote. Seriously, it was too easy to get a buncha dirty jokes out of that phrase
Of course it's a euphemism for sex. Anything can be if you try hard enough. I want to read her book all night long. BTW I have no idea what that might mean specifically, it was just the first example I thought of. I use it, but it's a stupid vague one, sort of like "doing it." It's real, but immature an most ponies will just roll their eyes or ignore it. So of course Dash tells AJ horrible jokes that often imply yes she has sex with her trees, and sometimes AJ even laughs as she glares at Dash.
