So...Overkill? · 2:43am May 13th, 2012

Because people who know me know that I have no idea what the concept of project overload is, I'm tempted to write a series of vignettes to the who All-American Girl series. This won't be a regular thing and it may touch on some of the background stuff (I know a few of you have asked some questions about a few things.) I might also have a few other writers, if interested, take shots at it as well - I'm but just one man, and in addition to AAG, I do have my other series to write (The Black Ponies) as well as my webcomic, Claude & Monet (yes, shameless plug!)

So, who's interested?

Well, there was a big huge discussion on Spacebattles.com (starting here), and it got to take over the MLP fics recommendation thread so much that they had to spin the discussion off into it's own thread. If you start your own story thread in the main creative writing section I'd bet you'd get a few takers. Still, if you just open the floodgates you'll be inundated with . . . crap, frankly. So I recommend that you institute a policy of all spin-offs having to be approved by you before being considered 'canon.'

EDIT: Also, I'm really looking forward to what you come out with on your own.

Doesn't seem like overkill to me. I wouldn't mind taking a crack at a one-shot based in the 'verse, I do have something in mind.

Sure, go for it! I'd love to see what you do. Let me know when complete and I'll go over it (so it doesn't break canon) and get it up in the section.

I've already been following it. Let's just say that I use outlines, and there's a reason I sat on the story for a month before releasing to the magical world of the internets.

If I can write it, and not have problems with my own stuff. Honestly the only thing that may be counter to your canon is one of my OCs is named Ambrosia, AJ's mother. I do want to share the idea first: when Equestria made contact with the Earth they became interested in our culture, Celestia taking a break from negotiations goes to church (in disguise of course) on either Easter or communion.

Actually, I never had a name for either of AJ's parents, so have at it. :pinkiehappy:

Regarding Celestia, sure! Do you need any descriptions of the local churches, or is she staying out of the DC area intentionally?

Ambrosia Malus and Hamiln Orange. She's alive and he's dead. And by the time your story takes place has taken place she would have retired from being Celestia's Chief-of-Staff and is happily marred the former High Captain of the Royal Guard who happens to be Fluttershy's uncle.

Celestia goes to Easter service for a Presbyterian church... rodger

I have no idea what that means, but paranoia just spiked a good two points. :pinkiegasp:

Anywho, I don't think I'll be doing any sidestories myself. I'm already a year overdo on my main story, have a backlog of betareading jobs, and have another fanfic and a original novel to work on, never mind adding anything else.

I feel your pain. I've got two novels in the kitty as well. But hey, if you've got any suggestions for other writers, I'd love to hear them.

Oh, I have lots of ideas. Besides the world-building stuff I've discussed with you even.

Like, for instance, the presence of Tsubasa-chan. How did she, and other ponies, end up on Earth? DJ got there via act of God, but I seriously doubt that similar circumstances would keep happening to other ponies. That means that foals are being adopted on Earth via some official or unofficial means. How did such a system get set up? Why? Is there something similar going on where humans are being adopted into Equestriani families? Are griffins and other creatures in on it too?
