Sorry to those who have been following me for story updates. I've been less active on Fimfiction as of late and even less active when it comes to writing. Things have been kind of hectic on my end. As for story updates... uh, don't expect anything soon. I have three stories that are in the progress of being written (and by that, I mean I wrote a couple hundred words then stopped).
For Follow the Melody, I'm sorry to disappoint you followers but I'm not making much headway in that story. In the first place, I can't even fathom how I'm still getting faves for that story. Seriously, for a first story, I didn't expect it to get that many likes or views. And you know how people's tastes change over a long period of time? I looked over the first few chapters of the revision, and I went: "Wow, did I used to write like this? Come on, I edited this months ago." It's the little things that rile me up when it comes to writing, like diction or word choice. I don't mean to make it sound completely bad. There were some bits I liked about my writing that still stuck after the revision, like the characters. Though, some could use a slight adjustment. However, the one thing that irks me more than anything was the idea I based it off of a HiE, human-to-pony transformation, age-changing story? It's all over the place--the carpet, the walls, the ceiling--everywhere. I would like to start over, but then that would require a lot of time. I mean a lot. That, and if I did restart (again), I'd have to take out most of the musical element in the story (so no lyrics because site rules and all that) and I would deviate from the show's plot more, meaning more focus on Lyle and Lyra.
You know, with the way I talk about my story, it's like I'm reviewing someone else's story, and in a way, that's true. Your past and present self are two completely different people because your writing changes and so do you.
Okay, so with the Follow the Melody rant out of the way... Cuttings Strings is probably the next story to be updated. Tale Chasing will most likely undergo a re-write as well (not comfortable with pacing). CwaCoS might be updated because I still like playing around with that idea. To Be Different won't be updated for a while since I just updated it recently. I still have a bunch of ideas bouncing around in my head, and I might end up putting everything else on hold to write it. Who knows? I have a short attention span.
On another note, I edit other people's works here and there. If you ask, I might be able to take a look at it... maybe. Short attention span, remember? It takes me a long time to finish reading something, even longer if the idea doesn't grab my attention. So when it comes to editing, one-shots are more of my thing, I guess. Also, I'm mostly busy during the day, so I'll end up writing and reading something at 2 AM in the morning.
On a completely unrelated note, it's fun to draw things. I found out about this when I filled a notebook completely with doodles when I should have been listening to a lecture.
