Happy Holidays, everybody! · 8:46pm Dec 24th, 2013
I know you guys were probably expecting a holiday themed "Alchemist's Heart" chapter for Christmas, but I kinda don't work that way. Worse, I get kinda dark around the holidays. You see, the holidays are an overly saccharine and commercial thing these days. It seems to be more about fetid Christmas music and OMG PRESENTS than it is about togetherness. Many people are less concerned about seeing family and friends than they are with what they're being given. I could honestly care less about gifts.
I just hate the holidays in general. I lose valuable time I actually WANT to spend writing to various nonsense, and for some reason, all the holidays does is set everybody in my household on edge. Particularly, my mother and I are often at each other's throats, usually because she takes something innocent as a monotone 'I know' [I'm sick, so pardon me if my fucking voice is barely there] as a challenge or sarcasm. Needless to say, I needed an outlet for the sanguine and stressful atmosphere, and wrote a tragedy.
A Hearth's Warming Tragedy, to be precise.
Yeah, I know this kind of story isn't the most cheerful thing, and some people might not want to be reading during the holidays, but I still think this is one of my better works. Tragedies such as the one that take place, albeit unlikely, aren't an uncommon occurrence during the holidays. I wrote this story to serve as a reminder that those in mental health-care facilites need a bit more holiday cheer. More than anything, they need the support of their loved ones. If you have a family member receiving long-term care for a mental condition, please do not forget about them. Even if you don't, maybe take a note from Rarity's book and make a few gift baskets to bring to your local health care facilities. Make the holidays special for them.
First!
Merry Christmas Seven!
I agree, it's so tragic... I mean I gave a lot of gifts today and yesterday but what I tried to provide most was togetherness with my close friends. And today on Christmas day I arranged, a month earlier, for the family to be together, my dad, brother, step mother, grandmother, step grandfather and some extended family were around for ham, vegetables and all sorts, we had a good laugh, some jolly fun and talked about the small things, of course we shared gifts too and while I got nothing physical bar some money from my father, I enjoyed the day immensely.
