Ironically, "Applejack Eats a Peach" was the story that made me start actually reading fanfics. It isn't even very good, and it wasn't even because of the story...
No, it was because one of the comments on the story was a complaint about the story not actually being about Applejack eating a peach.

I guess it depends on whether you consider them metafics or not. I don't, personally, seeing as Twilight-eats-peaches is a standalone pony story concept. Admittedly the effect is probably enhanced if you're in on it, but you could suggest the same for a fic based on any number of fandom memes, and yet we seem to be all right with Scootaloo-as-a-chicken and Twilicane stories. '

You might notice that my primary objections to metafics concerned stories that dealt with Fimfiction as a website and its userbase. I stand by that, and don't see it as an inconsistency to be supportive of peachfic, insofar as the stories are actually about Twilight Sparkle, the pony, eating peaches. Not Alexstrazsa, as a pony, eating peaches.
Odds on, the whole shebang will burn out in a couple days. May as well enjoy the ride while it lasts.
