Friendship is Card Games: Flight to the Finish · 3:49pm Dec 15th, 2013

Hello, all. Especially those Scootorphaners who have discovered yoga and are now performing the Urdhva Dhanurasana. :raritywink:

This episode may not have given us concrete answers regarding Scootaloo's flight issues, guardians, or cutie mark, but it did give us the season's first song, lepidopterophobia, and the rich bitches reaching a full kilonazi of evil.

Oh, and cards. My apologies in advance to the Harshwhinneans, but any card that could properly capture her true majesty would break the game in half.

Herd Unity 3WW
Enchantment
Pegasus and Unicorn creatures you control get +1/+1 as long as you control a Pony.
Pony and Unicorn creatures you control get +1/+1 as long as you control a Pegasus.
Pony and Pegasus creatures you control get +1/+1 as long as you control a Unicorn.

Curb Enthusiasm 1U
Instant
Target creature gets -4/-0 until end of turn. That creature's activated abilities can't be activated this turn.
Rainbow Dash takes everything to extremes, including moderation.

Ironic Reversal 1U
Instant
Change the target of target ability that can target its source to that source.
Draw a card.
"Remember, Ms. Harshwhinny: professionalism."
—Rainbow Dash, Bearer of Loyalty

Performance Fatigue 1UU
Enchantment
Whenever an activated ability of a creature is activated, that creature doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step.
"Come on, girls! Take ninety!"

Talent Show 2U
Sorcery
Each player may cast an instant or sorcery card not named Talent Show from his or her hand without paying its mana cost.
It's always best to watch pony performances from outside the blast radius.

True Originality 2UU
Enchantment
Whenever you cast a spell, if that spell doesn't have the same name as a permanent or a card in a graveyard, you may draw a card.
"Mind you, juggling lobsters while balanced atop a beach ball was what received top marks last year. You'll need to do better than that."

Severe Phobia 2RR
Sorcery
Creatures can't block creatures of the creature type of your choice this turn.
"Have you ever seen a butterfly's mouthparts up close? You'd scream too."

Flashy Entrance G
Sorcery
This turn, each creature you control enters the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter on it.
First impressions are everything.

"Hearts Strong as Horses" 1G
Enchantment — Song
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a verse counter on "Hearts Strong as Horses".
G, Sacrifice "Hearts Strong as Horses": Distribute X +1/+1 counters among creatures you control, where X is the number of verse counters on "Hearts Strong as Horses".

Daredevil's Scooter 2
Artifact — Equipment
Equipped creature has haste.
As long as equipped creature is attacking, prevent all noncombat damage that would be dealt to it.
Equip 1

Taunting Fillies UB
Creature — Pony
Whenever a spell is countered, that spell's controller loses 2 life. (If a targeted spell has no legal targets, it is countered on resolution.)
"Horses are laughing at me. I officially hate this plane."
—Jace Beleren
1/1

Training Montage GW
Sorcery
Put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control.
"If you're going to make yourself stronger, make sure you've got the right soundtrack. Speaking from experience, it's probably not polka."
—Pinkie Pie, Bearer of Laughter

Harsh Judge 1WB
Creature — Pony Advisor
Whenever a player casts a spell, that player loses 2 life for each other spell that player has cast this turn.
"A good performance should not rely on gratuitous excess. Elegance and poise must outweigh flash and gimmicks."
1/2

Psychological Warfare 1UB
Instant
Counter target spell unless its controller discards two cards.
"Oh, sure, that's real impressive. It's definitely going to work."

Futile Effort R(rw)W
Instant
Target creature attacks this turn if able. Prevent all combat damage that creature would deal this turn.
Sometimes determination makes the impossible happen. Sometimes it doesn't.

Emergency Stop 3R(wu)
Instant
Cast Emergency Stop only during combat.
Untap all attacking creatures. After this phase, there is an additional main phase followed by an additional combat phase. End the phase. (Exile all spells and abilities on the stack, including this card. "At end of combat" effects do not trigger.)

Taunting Fillies wins the flavour text quite handily.

Severe Phobia would probably be better written as "Choose a creature type. Creatures of the chosen type can't be blocked this turn," since the current wording seems designed to allow noncreatures to block. Or are you planning something?

It's a matter of semantics, really. Blue makes creatures unblockable, red keeps creatures from blocking. Same effect, but each gets the individual version in its part of the color pie, so the same has to be applied to the universal.

And yes, grumpy Jace is always funny.

Man, do I wish Harsh Judge was real. It'd hose Storm decks so hard.

After all the storm enablers I've made without meaning to, it's only fair I make something to shut them down. :twilightsheepish:

True Originality would be pretty handy in EDH-- unless you're playing against a clone deck, then it's less useful

1609991 I don't know about "quite handily"; I'd say Training Montage is a close second, and some of the others are pretty good too

1610952
Holy crap I didn't even think of how fast True Originality would probably get banned. But it would be so good until then. Training Montage does have really good flavour text, what settled it for me was the image of Jace scowling furiously while Diamond Tiara continues being a bitch.

1610389 Fortunately, copies of Storm spells are put onto the stack rather than cast. So long as we're at the same starting life total and I average more than two damage per spell hardcast, I'll still kill you first. :)

How about "Creatures that don't share a creature type with target creature can't block this turn. You may draw any number of cards. You may cast any number of spells without paying their mana costs this turn. CARDNAME can't be countered or exiled from the stack. That seems fair.

1621542
You've still got to cast spells to get your storm count up. :rainbowdetermined2:

1623993 I know. I just need to do damage faster than I take damage. I'll gladly take two damage to deal three to you. Heck, I'd still run Gut Shot and Mutagenic Growth in my current Kiln Fiend/Storm deck, and pay Phyrexian to cast them. Both spells usually give me at least an even trade, and ideally Mutagenic Growth is worth 11 or more (1 dmg from Grapeshot, 10 dmg from double striking Kiln Fiend.). Of course I'd rather not take damage, but Storm is still quite effective.
