I am going on a Spirit Quest backpacking up into the Smoky Mountains.
The next chapter is virtually done. As soon as I get back I will have it edited and posted.
I have about 60 something miles to cover in roughly 5 days, and its well below freezing.
I just wanted you guys to know, if you don't hear from me in about a week, then I have frozen and will be back with the spring thaw.
Have fun~!
~Have a good one.
Fuck.
New chapter, at least. Hopefully.
Drink water! Stay warm! Watch out for bigfoot!
A thousand years later, during Winter Wrap Up...
Dude! That sounds AWESOME! Have fun, stay safe, we look forward to your return!
If you have to wrestle a bear, remember; be your inner Fluttershy!
Good luck, and Merry Christmas!
So....a spirit quest is where you hike to exhaustion and freeze to death and come back as a spirit? That sounds pretty cool actually! Have fun, good luck! Be sure to position yourself where you can haunt people, no fun being a ghost in the middle of nowhere.
Happy questing, and stay warm!
ADVENTURE!
Have a good time mate, make sure to keep warm.
If you need a movie to take along, might I suggest:

Anyway, enjoy your hike!
Don't get murdered by aliens.
Your adventure is very admirable. You're a strong and passionate man, my friend. Good luck!
I encourage you to give "Into the Wild" a read if you haven't already, or heard of it.
And thank you for staying loyal to us and your work, we really appreciate it, you have no idea how much joy your reads bring!
ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE!
Remember: if you ever run into any bears, just go to sleep. The bears will be all like "man, this guy doesn't give a fuck!" and leave.
Nothing like a good cold weather hike to get the spirit roused.
Try not to die.

You.
everyone else is "dont get killed by bears" or "dont freeze"
I choose this one
And if I don't hear from you in a month, I'll send Link.
Also, if you're serious about the spiritual aspect of your journey, beware the rock-sloth. I'm not even joking.
Stay safe and happy questing !

Fuuuuuuuuuuck that, I'd be more scared of 127 Hours going down.
(note: if that happens, try to scrawl some notes about Article 2's ending on the canyon wall w/ your own bodily fluids. "Shane shipped with Pinkie, Luna dies to save him" etc.)
Damn I wish I was hiking. Have fun and come back in one piece, your fic is to good to go unfinished.

1635054 Fucking christ, Muppetz. He would. Probably trying to dodge his deadlines. But, he isn't dead so... that's a plus. I like to imagine he hunted down the bear and killed it.
1635054 Where's the site?
1635054
I know man, i hope he's okay.
Sorry 1635054 gotta say that smells like BootSauce unless you got something more tangible.

No, dude. That's not EVEN funny. You don't fucking joke about someone possibly winding up in the damn hospital. I punched out my best friend for pulling the same kind of stunt about a mutual acquaintance getting in a car wreck on April Fool's Day.
There's some shit you don't joke about.
1635370 - I agree. You just don't joke about such things. It's really not funny at all.
Ain't you a marine? Shouldn't you be on a boat or some such?
Also, I somehow managed to unfollow you... No idea how, but I have remedied this.

1663228 You should know that my Americanese isn't all to good. All I know are Army, AF, and Navy.
1663299
US Army
"This We'll Defend"
The U.S. Army primarily serves the purpose of ground holding. That is, they stick around in an area that's already been taken and make sure no one else tries to take it.
US Navy
Non Sibi, Sed Patriae (Not Self, But Country)
Boats. 'Nuff said.
But seriously, Their strongest point is to moving enormous amounts of stuff quickly. They can get a missile cruiser or an aircraft carrier ready to provide support in a relatively short amount of time.
USAF
Aim High, Fly, Fight, Win
Similar to the Navy, except with planes instead of ships. They are also the ones dealing with things like drones, ICBMs, and satellites.
US Marines
Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful)
Back in the 1800s and early 1900s, their primary role was to defend against boarding parties or be a boarding party in naval engagements. Today, they're a general purpose branch that's typically the first to see action, moving from mission to mission and allowing the army to hold onto whatever ground they've taken. To grossly overgeneralize, the marines are the primary fighting force and everyone else is supporting them.
US Coast Guard
Semper Paratus (Always Ready)
Homeland defense. They technically are supposed to deal with any threat on US soil, but given the general lack of organized military invasions, they usually focus on fighting various smugglers trying to get illegal stuff into/out of America.
This is all very generalized, but it will give you rough idea of what the branches are and what they do.
1669036
That is probably the single Marine-est thing I've ever heard lol.
In addition, 2 weeks later, we should probably launch a search party or something. I really want to see this story play out
1674062
As I said, grossly overgeneralized. At the very least, Marines still tend to get the lion's share of fighting.
1674901
For the lion's share, I'd say the proportion of troops who see combat is higher than the army since army handles a bunch of the logistical side, but I wouldn't say overall
Not doggin' the Marines. Hard hitting gaggle of badasses
