Worst Patient Ever - Update Complete & Parting Thoughts

A year to the day since I published the first chapter of Worst Patient Ever, and as of now the story is at last complete. It’s almost a misnomer to only think of this story as a year-long process. In reality, it’s taken well over that, nearing on two years since I first started to brainstorm, outline, and sketch out how the story would take place.

Nose to the Grindstone - New Story & Story Updates

To my fellow Canadians in the room: Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy the changing of the leaves, the cooler weather, and bountiful turkey- and potato- and gravy-related foods. Enjoy a walk through a park or something where the leaves have fallen before the snow comes (unless you're like me and the snow's already here 8D).

    Leaked Episode - "Daring Done"

In case people haven't heard, Hasbro appears to have accidentally leaked next week's episode and now it's poppin' up all over YouTube. I considered waiting until next week to watch it (like I'm sure many are doing), but when I found out it was "Daring Done," that wasn't happening.

    So I watched it.

    And I loved it.

    Spoilers below.

Episode 4 Reaction & Updates · 11:33pm Dec 7th, 2013

Been a while since I've done anything on here, so I figured why not join the mob of people posting their reactions to the latest episode? Oh, and a few other things too, but first, new episode!

*SPOILERS! (duh)*

I haven't ever shared my comments on episodes of the show here, so why would I bother with this one you may ask? Well, the answer is simple: Daring Do. Archaeology is my life, and needless to say Indiana Jones is one of my biggest heroes out there (some stuff he does archaeology-wise is wacky, but I'll let that slide). Ergo, it was impossible for me not to absolutely fall in love with Daring Do the same way I did with Indiana Jones.

This was the episode I've been looking forward to the most this season, just because they're finally bringing Daring Do back since Read It and Weep. And I can say, overall, it wasn't bad. I generally try to not let myself get caught up in the hype for a new episode/book/Doctor Who episode/whatever so I don't walk away disappointed in the product, but this was one of the few instances where I simply couldn't help myself. Was this my favourite episode ever? Hell no. Not the best of the new season either, but I'm still happy with it.

So we got to see fangirl Rainbow Dash in this episode, which was honestly adorable... for the first few minutes. After a little while it got grating, especially when she was alone with Do. That brings us to Daring Do as the writer of Daring Do. A lot of people are probably going to be upset that they messed with fanon (heaven forbid), but I'm thrilled by it. Daring Do is a legit pony now. I can't possibly be any happier with that than I am right now. This also opens the door for so many possibilities both within the show and here for fanfiction, which makes me giddy with excitement. Again though, fangirl Dash was taken too far in this episode for me. "Do's taking on a bunch of evil cats! I'd better sit here and shout her name and make myself an obvious target for the villain and not even really try to fight back when his tail-hand-thing grabs me! It's not like I can zip away from him or anything! My fangirl love for Do has immobilized my wings!"

And I'll admit that the explanation that by removing the last ring from that tower of rings would make the entire temple collapse made no sense to me. I've watched a shitfuckton of archaeology related movies, but this was probably one of the most contrived design flaws I've ever seen.

Also on the con side, TWO Wilhelm screams. Not one, but TWO. I like a good Wilhelm screams as much as the next guy, but really?

That being said, when Twi and the others finally showed up, things got way better and more enjoyable to watch. The action was cool, and the dialogue between Twilight and Rainbow was amazing. It's probably one of my favourite things ever by this point (more fuel for TwiDash yay!).

Last thing to say about this episode was the name of the ancient city they visited: Tenochtitlan. Well I guess that's one archaeological site they didn't both to ponify for the show, but I ain't complaining. I proudly say I fangirl squeed when they used Tenochtitlan. It's only one of the most amazing archaeological sites ever (have a pic of it because reasons):

*SPOILERS OVER*

In other news, I'm officially putting Jak on hiatus. As much as I want to continue on with the story, I'm not happy with how it is now and would like to review and change some things about the overall plot so I know where I'm going with it. When I started it I had no idea it would get so much attention and wasn't sure how far it was going to go in the scheme of things. After I take some time to think about where I'm going with it so it can sit at a place I deem acceptable, I'll get back to writing it.

I've also finally finished that monster of a seminar paper bogging me down (yay!). Total of 40 pages including the references and illustrations at 1.5 spacing, sitting at 13,896 words. God help me I almost wrote a Master's thesis. With that done, I can try and get back in the swing of things pony-wise. So far I'm about halfway through the first chapter of a new Halloween-themed fic (because fuck Christmas) and I'm planning on doing something special and Christmas-y with Jukebox Scribbles (because <3 Christmas). I may also be entering the ScootaBelle group contest, so more lesbian poni smooches are coming your way.

That being said, while one course is taken care of, I still have another three that need to be dealt with. Finals are approaching (first one this Wednesday, yikes!), so Imma be slow with the writing thing.

Oh yeah and I forgot to post this from last week's episode:

Probably one of the greatest moments ever. Just sayin'.

Happy trails you beautiful bastards you!

I like how the 2 ponies that you would expect to be most worried about Spike being hurt just act like they don't even notice what happened.

Okay, December 7th now... I've been in hiding for almost a month. I was also able to piece together a MacGuyver'd time device by combining parts of my broken one with parts of the dead dino's chromosomally locked one. It's a one way trip, but that's alright. I just hope it gets me to where I gotta go.

Well, here goes nothing! And everything!
