MLP: FIM Season 6 Episode Rankings

Well, even though I ranked every single episode in order from all 6 seasons, which you then should be able to understand my ranking of season 6's episodes, I still got requests to do season 6 on its own. Well, mainly from just one person, since sadly no one seems to care about my rankings or thoughts, but I'll go ahead and do it anyway. Here are my rankings of all the episodes from season 6 (in

Ranking All My Little Pony Episodes & Seasons

So, with the help of a program called Preference Revealer, I have ranked all 143 episodes spanning across all six seasons of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Now let me make it clear that these are MY OPINIONS and if anyone who reads this disagrees with my choices (which is definitely likely), then good for you and I'm glad you were able to get something out of episodes I either didn't care

MLP: FIM Season 5 Episode Rankings

The rankings listed below are from my own personal least favorite to my most favorite episode (of season 5) and a reasoning is listed after each one. But, please be aware that I overall enjoyed the entire season like I love the entire show, okay? By all means, let me know what you think. Do you agree with me? Do you disagree? Well, let me know! Anyway, here we go, starting from #26 and working

    Crusaders Of The Lost Mark

Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! All of my yes! Easily, bar none, the best episode in the entire series! I can't recall the last time I've shed this many tears throughout an entire episode. I mean...where do I begin? Diamond Tiara actually confirming my thoughts that she's not a bad girl and it's just her upbringing...Silver Spoon showing morals even before Diamond Tiara did...Applejack's parents

Equestria Girls: Friendship Games Is Amazing!

It really is the best one in the series yet. It doesn't go overboard like the first movie with its odd character development and plot-holes, and it isn't just mean-spirited and boring like the second one...not that the first two were bad, but still. Friendship Games had an amazing story that didn't really have a true villain; it just worked on its own merits. I won't go into spoilers, in case you

MLP: FIM Top 10 Favorite Songs (Both Seasons) · 6:14pm Apr 29th, 2012

Since I love the show so much, I figured I would rank my top 20 favorite songs of both seasons thus far. Just for fun. Now, this list does NOT include fan-made musical numbers (that would be WAY too hard to add in, since there's so many). I'm also not counting euro-beat, 8-bit, or other versions. I'm talking about the beautiful works of art that Daniel Ingram created himself and were sung and used on the animated masterpiece itself. Also, my definition of a song is when music plays in the background and someone actually sings for longer than just 10 seconds. So, Pinkie's "song" that she "sang" to Fluttershy to help her jump over that tiny gap between the two cliffs does NOT count. That's not a song; that's just singing your words. It's not the same thing.

Normally, I only really count music as being a song when it reaches at least two minutes. Anything shorter and it's just way too short to be a real tune. But, my stance has somewhat changed, since listening to Total Drama World Tour, My Little Pony, Family Guy, and several other shows that use short musical numbers that are otherwise quite enjoyable.

Now, just to be nice (and neat and tidy), I'll list every single musical number that is considered a song (as said by the show itself). This way you will know each and every song, if you forgot one or two, and will know which ones I did not pick and which ones I did. Oh, and the parts in parentheses is basically the "real" name of the song, but I never use it. We all know songs by our own personal titles, after all. I also list the episode it was used in, in case you don't remember THAT, either. Here are the songs:

Giggle At The Ghostly (Laughter Song) [Season 1, Episode 2]
Pinkie's Gala Fantasy Song [Season 1, Episode 3]
The Ticket Song [Season 1, Episode 3]
Junior Speedsters Chant [Season 1, Episode 5]
Hop, Skip & Jump Song [Season 1, Episode 7]
Evil Enchantress [Season 1, Episode 9]
Winter Wrap-Up [Season 1, Episode 11]
Cupcakes [Season 1, Episode 12]
Art Of The Dress (Rarity's Dressmaking Song) [Season 1, Episode 14]
Hush Now, Quiet Now (Hush Now Lullaby) [Season 1, Episode 17]
The Cutie Mark Crusaders [Season 1, Episode 18]
You Gotta Share, You Gotta Care [Season 1, Episode 21]
So Many Wonders [Season 1, Episode 23]
Pinkie's Singing Telegram [Season 1, Episode 25]
At The Gala (The Gala Song) [Season 1, Episode 26]
I'm At The Grand Galloping Gala [Season 1, Episode 26]
The Pony Pokey [Season 1, Episode 26]

Find A Pet Song [Season 2, Episode 7]
Becoming Popular (The Pony Everypony Should Know) [Season 2, Episode 9]
The Heart Carol [Season 2, Episode 11]
Happy Monthiversary [Season 2, Episode 13]
Piggy Dance [Season 2, Episode 13]
The Flim Flam Brothers [Season 2, Episode 15]
The Perfect Stallion [Season 2, Episode 17]
Smile, Smile, Smile (Smile Song) [Season 2, Episode 18]
You're A Cranky Doodle Donkey [Season 2, Episode 18]
Welcome Song [Season 2, Episode 18]
Cranky Doodle Joy [Season 2, Episode 18]
B.B.B.F.F [Season 2, Episode 25]
This Day Aria [Season 2, Episode 26]
Love Is In Bloom [Season 2, Episode 26]

Okay, those are all the songs. Yes, ALL of them. And yes, some you really wouldn't consider songs, but...well, they were listed anyway. So, now that you know all of them, I'll rank my top 10 favorites. The 10 that I personally feel were the strongest and the best, if not the most memorable, the most entertaining, or just the most beautiful and epic. You may disagree with me, but that's fine; that's your prerogative. I'll list a reason along with each song, of course, to back me up. You shouldn't be surprised to find that my top favorites are all longer than one minute. So, without further ado, here is the list of the top 10 best MLP: FIM songs from the first two seasons (according to yours truly):

10. Giggle At The Ghostly: The only reason this is in my top 10 is because it was the very first song we were gifted with listening to and enjoying on the greatness that is My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. We were introduced to Pinkie Pie's random love for singing, and while she isn't the BEST singer out there, she isn't bad. This song has an alright beat that you can easily listen to over and over again, has a message that is a little naive (laugh to make your fears go away) but still cute, and is very likable. It's been debated millions of time at what Pinkie really says. Does she say "ghostly" or "ghosties"? At first, I thought it was the latter. But, after listening more closely and finding the first one more common, I'm now on-board with "ghostly". I REALLY don't know why it's technically called "Laughter Song", since I will NEVER call it that. For me, "Giggle At The Ghostly" will always be a memorable song for taking us into Equestria's wonderful world of pony music. [Sung by Pinkie Pie]

9. This Day Aria: I really don't see what all the fuss is about with this song. Sure, it's great, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it "epic" or anything. It's simply the classic villain song that is usually sung during the climax of villainous episodes or events. What's so new about that? Ursala had one in The Little Mermaid, Alejandro had one in Total Drama World Tour, Jafar had one in Aladdin, Gaston had one in Beauty & The Beast, and so on and so forth. What's so epic about a villain boasting and singing a song about themselves? Sure, it sounds cool, but big whoop. Still, with the list presented to me, it was either this or something like "Cupcakes", "Evil Enchantress", or "The Cutie Mark Crusaders". All of those I really do love, but...well, this song closed out the season (I don't count "Love Is In Bloom" as closing the season out, as it wasn't even long enough to count as one). Plus, Chrysalis and Cadance do both have stunning voices that harmonize one another very well. A very good song, but not one I consider best. [Sung by Chrysalis + Cadance]

8. Find A Pet Song: I really don't know how this song made the cut, since it's so downright cheesy, simpleminded, and silly. Plus, you can't even make out what Rainbow Dash says at one point. But, I digress, I've listened to it a lot more than most of the others on the list above, and naturally it's well-known and generally well-liked, so I had to put it on my list. Rainbow Dash's gruff, somewhat pushy, and boastful voice plays off Fluttershy's sing-song, beautiful, tentative voice almost perfectly. The two Pegasi compliment each other very, very well. It's one of the reasons why this song works so well. Both girls singing about finding Rainbow Dash a pet was kinda stupid to begin with, since (again) that is NOT how you go about finding a member of your family. But, overall, it was a catchy and fun song that was easily one of the musical highlights of season 2. [Sung by Rainbow Dash + Fluttershy]

7. The Perfect Stallion: A Cutie Mark Crusader song had to be on the list. The show was created for little girls, after all; it's only fair to include a song sung by the three main little girls themselves! I was debating on whether to pick this song or their self-entitled song they sang during the talent show. It was hard, since I wanted to pick the first-ever song they sang as a group, but I ultimately decided that this one was better. The reason this one sounds so much better is probably because Sweetie Belle (mostly) sings alone. No offense, but Apple Bloom and Scootaloo both suck at singing; I cringe at hearing their voices sing. The song itself was cute, given exactly WHY the fillies were singing it, and I love the upbeat and vivid melody. Easily a song that you could listen to over and over again, just from the amount of amusing absurdity combined with the general uplifting tempo. This musical number was sang during one of the episodes I hate the most, but I still enjoyed it. [Sung by Cutie Mark Crusaders]

6. At The Gala: The "closing" song of season 1 (once again, I consider the more "epic" song of an episode to be the "closer", and this song was more epic than The Pony Pokey). This song worked so well in many ways. First, it showed off all six singing styles of the mane six. I don't know about you guys, but I rather love it when all the main characters sing together in a song, but take turns so that you can hear them individually. Naturally, Rainbow Dash's part was the most epic and memorable part of the song, with Pinkie's part close behind. Second, the show itself had a groovy rhythm and style that I just adore. I usually hate slow songs, so when a musical is set at a good tempo that doesn't bore me, and entertains me with their lyrics and vocals, I can't help but love it. The "choir" parts in this song really did wonders to help add a good background for the mane six. Too bad Spike didn't get to sing in it. Easily one of my favorite songs without even thinking twice. [Sung by Mane Six]

5. B.B.B.F.F: Along with its short reprise, this song almost gets me in tears. I really can't explain why, so don't bother asking me. It might have something to do with how painful my family life is and how basically nonexistent it is, so seeing Twilight sing so beautifully about her big brother really gets to me. Twilight herself is probably right at the top of the list of most beautiful sings in the show, along with Rarity and her little sister, Sweetie Belle. There's just something so moving and so natural about Twilight's voice. She could easily win Equestrian Idol, since everything she sings is perfect. Everything was perfectly in tune with perfect pitch, and the song itself was heartwarming, beautiful, touching, and is clearly memorable. The title is kinda kooky, but that's just one little annoyance that I can pass by the wayside. When the rest of Twilight's friends join her for a brief moment, it only enhances what was already a lovely musical number. Overall, another song that is now one of my favorites. [Sung by Twilight Sparkle]

4. Becoming Popular (The Pony Everypony Should Know): I'm trying to be fair and use an unbiased ranking system on these songs, marking them for their levels of epic ability, style, rhythm, tempo, meaningfulness, and just how memorable they are. But, I will admit that this is probably the song I listen to more than any other (mostly because I imagine Trixie singing a parody of it, which I plan to use in my Total Magic Pony series). But, in actuality, this song is amazing. Rarity's stunning voice is enough to captivate any listener, even if you don't know who she is. While the moral behind the song is rather conceited, egotistical and self-absorbed, the song itself is awesome. It's clearly a pop song (my favorite genre of music), and it's immediately catchy the moment you hear the first chord. Really, this is probably my most favorite song of season 2 and possibly the entire show so far. So, why is it not #1? Because regardless of my personal likings, I feel there's three songs that top this one in terms of epic proportion. [Sung by Rarity]

3. Art Of The Dress: Not only is this (entire) song nearly a whole two minutes longer than Rarity's song at #4, but I just think the song is slightly better as a whole. I don't listen to it as much as I do #4, but I must still concede that it's a wicked song. Possibly the highlight of Rarity's "Suited For Success" episode in season 1. Rarity's voice changes tempo and the dynamics slightly change during a few parts of the song, showing just how talented the unicorn is at using her voice (and once again showing us all just who her little sister gets her singing skills from). During the end when the rest of the mane six join in is possibly my favorite part of the song. Just listening to all six voices one after another creates such an epic balance and blend that works wonders. Plus, unlike #4, Rarity at least doesn't make herself look like an ass in this song; she's singing about her skills, but the reason she's doing so is for her friends' sakes. Rarity singing a song about her own element of generosity makes this song that much more amazing. [Sung by Rarity]

2. Winter Wrap-Up: Easily the very first epic song that we were introduced to with the series. It came 11 episodes in, but it was worth it. Once again it was another group song, sang with a "choir" and background vocals, and that's what made it all work to perfection. Just to get it out of the way, my two favorites of the mane six started and ended the song: Rainbow Dash started it with her tomboyish voice, and Twilight Sparkle ended it with her beautiful vocals. Not only did the song basically sum up what the episode was about for the viewer, but it was catchy, it was captivating, it was fun, and the tempo was awesome. Nice and fast, just as I prefer them. Each girl got to sing a decent solo (two in fact), and the rest of Ponyville singing in with the rest made the song come together in something harmonious and stunning. I don't like it more than both of Rarity's songs, but "Winter Wrap-Up" clearly just blew them away without even breaking a sweat. But, even this song was no match for what is coming up at #1. [Sung by Mane Six]

1. Smile, Smile, Smile: I really just can't stand this. First, a Pinkie Pie episode tops my list for season 1. Then a Pinkie Pie episode does the same for season 2. Now, I'm forced to concede that a Pinkie Pie song is the greatest in the series thus far (and possibly always will be)? Let me just make this clear one final time: I do NOT like Pinkie Pie! She drives me insane! If I seriously had a friend like her, I would lock myself in my room and never leave again! Ugh! But...who am I kidding? This song is clearly the series' greatest and most epic masterpiece. At 3 minutes and 24 seconds, this song is also (thankfully) of good length. I just couldn't believe how majestic, stunning, and beautiful this song was. Easily Pinkie's best. Every time I hear it, I get goosebumps. I can't explain why. The song is just so...so...utterly perfect. Everything about the song is to be admired and respected. Pinkie's voice FINALLY sings in-key and maturely, the choir adds a whole new element that raises the song's epic meter a notch up the ladder, the moral and message behind the song is enough to warm my heart and make me cry even more, and the music itself is beyond decent. There was a reason this song was leaked weeks before its debut; the show knows itself just how epic and amazing this song is. I would have to be a complete and utter idiot, or Simon Cowell, to not rank this song #1. All of you who are reading this, you cannot say anything bad about this choice. Whether you want to admit it or not, "Smile, Smile, Smile" IS the greatest My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic song. End of story. [Sung by Pinkie Pie]

Honorable Mentions:

The Cutie Mark Crusaders: They may have sung it terribly, but I still love the song. It was cute, catchy, and the tempo was freaking electric. To be honest, I think if Sweetie Belle had taken the lead, the song WOULDN'T have worked. I just can't really see Sweetie Belle singing hard rock, metal, punk, or anything like that. It would just be weird. But, while I did love the Cutie Mark Crusaders' first song as a team, I had to admit it probably wasn't one of the top 10 best in the show. Really cute and awesome, but not the best. [Sung by Cutie Mark Crusaders]

Cupcakes: Way too short for my liking, but I still really love the simplistic nature of this cute Pinkie Pie song. Probably has one of the best rhythms of any song in the series. Plus, the name itself is a bit ironic, given a certain fan-fiction out there. Easily a memorable song with a great tempo, but obviously not one of the greatest to make the best of the best. [Sung by Pinkie Pie]

The Flim Flam Brothers: I honestly did not like this song at all. Why others thought it was awesome is beyond me. It was downright pathetic. Really no melody at all, really could never get into it, and there was really no POINT behind the song. It was long and it was a memorable part of its episode, true. But, overall, I just personally did not like it. And I've been listening to music ever since I was born, so I think I know good music when I hear it. This song didn't do it for me. [Sung by Flim & Flam]

Yaplap's cover of those songs > Any song. Ever.

...I do have a friend who's just like Pinkie Pie. Seems too full of energy for someone who complains about being tired, and prone to fast-talking tangents. And she's my best friend. Part of the reason I take to Pinkie more than I do to Twilight, who's the "me" of the ponies.

But yes. Saying no to the Smile Song is a crime punishable by Pinkie chatter. Seriously, imagine if the Inquisition had her to talk their captives into submission...

Fun fact; Pinkie used to be my least favorite pony, along with Fluttershy. But then I heard the leaked version of her song and I just got her. I used to think of her as mostly two-dimensional, but that song just enlightened me somehow about her true character. I can't really explain it, but that song gave me an epiphany;Pinkie Pie is awesome. I had shivers on my body and tears in my eyes. When a song can rise a pony from the lowest spot up to 2nd best pony(along with Rarity and below Twi) then that song just has to be my favorite pony song of all time. You have chosen well.

No ponies were harmed in the making of the Cupcake Song.

I have to whole heartedly disagree with your number one. I feel like I'm listening to Rebecca Black when S.S.S. comes on. It's just to... I don't know how to berate it, it's just bad.

Definite agreeal on Winter Wrap-up.

So, my #1? The song I've listened More times since the episode came out than any other song in my iTunes library. This Day Aria. Heheh. Yes it is a typical villain song. The singer (also Cadence's voice actor) has an absolutely gorgeous voice. Before I joined this fandom, I had never once shed a tear because of emotional distress.(childhood reasons aside) And there I was watching a pink cartoon horse sing about how much she loved her fiancée with tears in my eyes. *le sigh* I've probably just turned into a woman...

91566 Well, I love Rebecca Black, so nice try. :derpytongue2:

I'm beginning to think Pinkie Pie topping your charts is going to be a running gag. I shall enjoy every second of it.

Anyhow, I'll admit I'm still relatively new to the show itself (how I know more about a show's fandom than canon, I dunno), but my opinion seems to be tied at becoming popular and winter wrap up. Haven't had the chance to listen to smile, smile, smile yet, so I'll have to give that a look.

Also, I finall make a comment on something other than TMPI. PROGRESS! :twilightsheepish:

I think we can all agree that "Smile, Smile, Smile" might be the best song the show's ever had.

And who else things that Season 3 as well as Season 2 has improved on the songs. Seriously who here doesn't like "Crystal Fair Song" or "Babs Seed" or even "Raise This Barn". "I wasn't prepared for this/You were prepared for this" was decent but the animation is largely why it was good. The biggest highlight was Spike actually singing, now I wonder how long until he sings in the show opening? :trixieshiftright:
