What Can I Say About the Season Four Premiere? *Spoilers* · 6:11pm Nov 23rd, 2013
It felt underwhelming at first, but that's probably because there wasn't a demonic creeper from the distant past trying to obstruct harmony and tasting the mother-f$%&ing rainbow (though they certainly wanted us to think that). I guess that these episodes were more about Twilight's personal growth than about evil being stopped again, and I think that's a good thing, given all the adjustments she has to make (physically and mentally).
In retrospect, I think I like the development better than the evil overlords coming back after a millenia. It worked pretty well the first few times, but I think it's become a tired formula for season openers. I'm glad they tried something new, even if it still involves an Equestria-threatening evil. There's nothing better in a story than genuine character interaction, and at its heart (despite all the friend-d#ck stroking that happened), that's what this episode was: the Mane Six gaining an even better understanding of their bond.
I give Princess Twilight Sparkle (both parts together) four clarinets out of five.
But, for me, the best part of this morning was watching Equestria Girls again. Reminds me of Spain.
