I might get into the habit of posting brief, marked-spoiler reactions to episodes of season four as they air. Don't want y'all to think I've forgotten about you.
So. The premiere two-parter "Princess Twilight Sparkle." What can I say? Well, first of all, by necessity, I am OFFICIALLY ignoring season-four canon in "Digital Harmony." A pivotal event in the episodes contradicts something I need to do with the story involving the now canonically-absent Elements of Harmony.
See, this is EXACTLY why I kept an open mind when Hasbro first announced that Twilight would become an alicorn princess, and why I feel bad for joining the Equestria Girls protest-ish dealie (toyline is still complete bullshit). This two-parter alone far outclassed a nice chunk of season three. I mean, "One Bad Apple" and "Sleepless in Ponyville" were two of my favorite episodes of the show's entire run, but... overall, it didn't pack the same punch as the seasons before it. I think the closure provided by "Princess Twilight Sparkle" made up for the breakneck pacing of the "Magical Mystery Cure" coronation.
I don't want to talk too much, but I will point out probably my favorite part of the episodes: the battle of Princess Celestia and Nightmare Moon in part two. I don't think there's ever been another single sequence that intense in the entire show, and it's one of the moments I've been most eager for them to revisit. And looking at the plot synopses for the next four upcoming episodes, I'm sensing it's going to be more action-packed than the previous season. I am STOKED.
That's all from me. I'll be back tonight with Cards Against Humanity shenanigans, next week with a reaction to "Castle Mania," and whenever the hell with another chapter of "Digital Harmony."
It was certainly better then most of season 3
Not gonna lie, womanly tears were shed at Celestia getting fucked up, and I don't even like Celestia
Glad you enjoyed it. I agree with you, especially on that particularly riveting sequence. It was a very good episode, and actually had me guessing all throughout as to what exactly was going on (in a good way; I felt I couldn't predict the end, or who, or what, was responsible for what was going on).
I have a feeling that the new mystery they introduced at the very end of part 2 will be revisited throughout the season and ultimately be resolved in the season finale.
1532578 Yes! Exactly! The moment the six-keyed chest popped up, I thought "STORY ARC! HALLELUJAH!"
Are you playing on PYZ, or somewhere else?
1532641 PYZ. I don't know where else they have it online. And if you're offering to join, I'm sorry, but it's really a friends-type thing.
...the site's called Pretend You're Xyzzy. Why does the URL use a Z?
Fallen, whatever are you talking about? The toyline is amazing!
Please don't slaughter me.The Rockadile was fucking rad.
Awesome episode, but did anyone else feel that them sending Twilight away was the most gaping plot hole the show has had in four seasons? It was just so stupid it would have marred an episode where everything else was not of such stellar quality.
Apropos of absolutely nothing, it occurs to me that getting rid of the EoH is the kind of twist our friend DKM might actually approve of. Which is...weird, to say the least. I'm actually kinda intruiged to see how Starfleet Magic IV reacts to this to be honest.
