Bit rushed, but that's to be expected and at least here was a bit more explanation behind said rushing and the order things went in this time. Interesting idea to see an overarching story hook, wonder where it;s going?

I'm not sure if we should actually expect much from this hook or not. S3 also had a hook with Twilight moving to the next level of her studies and a brief glimps of Starswirl's journal, but nothing much came of any of that until the MMC.

True, but given this is a box with keys so it seems a bit more easily set up for multiple episodes. It might not and might just be a finale thing but who knows.

Well, we do have a full 26 episodes this seaon unlike the abridged 13 of last season, so there's certanly more potential to explore an extended arc while also having plenty of unrelated other events and antics alng the way. Still, I'm just saying we shouldn't raise our expectations too high, as even if there is an arc it might be little more than the three episodes the Gala got in S1.
