Story Ideas: Refined in the Fire! · 5:21am Nov 19th, 2013
I like plans. Plans are lists in embryonic form, and you know that lists are marvelous. Today's list is a reimagined, refined, redefined list of plans for future stories.
Just to make sure you know I haven't abandoned them, really.
Listed in no particular order:
First, and certainly not least, would be Hide and Pie.
Or Hide and Pink. Or Pink and Pie. Or Pie and Q. I still don't really have a title for my little "Pinkie Pie is given Draconequus powers on her birthday" story. It's a might embarrassing.
What I have for this story now is a writing style. I like to experiment a bit with every new story I post, and for this one I'd like to present something akin to the writing in Brian Jacques' Redwall. Beautiful description is a real trademark of Jacques' writing, as well as a friendly narration that makes me feel as though the author himself is telling me the story. I think with that foundation, I can write a fun, interesting story about Pinkie.
Note: Fahr Drill's been written, and you can read it here!
Fahr Drill's next. A silly story about Big Mac, Caramel, Thunderlane, and Spike being Ponyville's Volunteer Firefighters. I think the matter-of-fact narration style seen in Gray Twilight would be good for this story, since I don't want it to be quite as bonkers as The Criminal Mind of Fluttershy.
My real big issue with writing this is that I don't have much of a plot besides "They fight a fire at a bizarre location, hilarity ensues." I kinda need more to go on.
Also, I need more jokes besides "a dragon is a firefighter." Could get old quick.
To write The Rueful Fate of Sweetie Belle, I'm gonna have to get in a real emotional mood. I want this story to have a ton of heart. I want this story, perhaps, if it isn't too much trouble, to actually move my readers. That's gonna take a lot of planning, consideration, effort... Etc.
Maybe i'll have to wait and see if the Doctor Who Fiftieth Anniversary Special gives me the boost I need to complete this, the sequel to my not-quite-ignored crossover, Rarity's Book of Impossible Things.
Braeburn's Ascension; or, The Courtship of Pinkamena Diane Pie is gonna be a little while in coming.
A: I'd like it to tie into season four, just so my Ascension Series remains marginally canonical.
B: I'm focusing quite a bit on Blueblood's Ascension Part III, as well as my other two incomplete stories. And my variety of one shots. Confucius says, "A full plate cannot hold just one more dumpling, as it will knock the rangoon off."
I have half a dozen one shots, story concepts, and other doodads that I may list at a later date. When I feel the need to make more lists. You know how it is.
So, the question, the point of this post, is thusly:
Any input from the audience? Any specific things you'd like to see? Anything I need to avoid? I am my own writer, of course, but I always like having opinions to weigh my own against. It's the fun part about posting my writings in a community: actually having a community to speak with!
Well, if nothing else, this'll make my home page more concise!
"And That's How Equestria Was Unmade!"
This one kinda sounds like it just isn't going to work. Your best option might be taking the single joke you have and hammering on it as hard as you can, instead of trying to add other jokes.

I think you're on the right track, nemryn. I may have been trying too hard to reference the Star Trek episode "Hide and Q" in the name when it really doesn't fit.
Or at least it has no obvious pun to utilize.
Hmm. "And That's How Equestria Was Unmade," "The Last Will and Testament of Princess Celestia," "Fluttershy, You're Fired," "Phenomenal Cosmic Power, as Applied to a Pink Earth Pony..."
But instead of no standouts... Now there's too many!
Take my joke and run with it, huh? I'll admit that at this point it's probably my best bet. My issue with that is that it seems like a pretty sparse concept to write a story about, but not every fic has to be 5,000 words, right?
