"Gates Of Delirium" by Yes is a good way to get in a writing mood. Perhaps a little too good. I tried to continue writing Triple X, but I found I could only write poems. So have some more. They're a bit less absurd this time.
Castle By the Water
Castle by the water
A stunning symphony of chevrons
The celestial ball completing its track
Jumping fish
Water lilies
A knight by yew
Sturdy and strong
Lived many lives
A symbol of longevity
Though not immortality
A spark to blaze
As the sky darkens
A warm presence gone for the night
Bad moon rising in its place
Cackling fiends hiss and whisper
The idea had been quick to materialize
Quicker to set
The flames lick the banks
The crimson tide clashing with blue licks
The castle's stone
The knight's flesh
The yew's wood
The horse's gone
A hiss and a pop awake the drifting knight
The scabbard unburdened
"Stay back, you fiends! Where hast thou come from?"
His eyes wide with terror as he realizes he cannot fight this foe
His steel would need to be a thousand times colder
His friend, now proven mortal, is being licked at by the lengths
Three-quarters surrounded, one quarter almost
A mad dash
A mad pain
But not in vain
The knight limps away
The night crawls on
A medley of autumnal essences flood the battlements
The leaves blacken, ash clogs the wood
The knight turns, a hand perpendicular to his brow
He feels the flames' sting on his face, despite his great length
Without any fanfare, a great crash is heard
Yew are no more
The Selkie and the Turtle
"Oh, listen to me, my pretties! The water's nice and cool! Come swim with me in my pool!"
"Oh lord, dear missie, I'm much too shy. You're so beautiful, compared to one such as I."
"All are blessed under my watch. Take a bath with me; raise yourself up a notch."
"As you can see, I swam out to meet you. Where are all your 'pretties'? The swan, the duck, the emu."
"I was in the mood for turtle shell soup."
The Clash
A mountain rumbles
A wave roars
A river runs free
A stone tumbles
A rift opens
A lake roughens
A rain begins
A cloud of ash
A hail of ice
A loss of fish
A dread of ice
A river runs dry
A stone cracks
What one has, the other lacks
Expectant
Six men
A liphogram
The Spanish Inquisition
Hello, twice removed
Direct Contact
Touch
Taste

See
The Trials, The Tribulations
A sigh of lost romance
But wait, a second chance!
An invitation to a dance
With her, all night, I'll prance
I turn to my left; oh look, she's with Lance
The Essence of Solidarity
Sucks.
