Hey, doing some advertising here. Not for me (read my stuff anyway) but because there's this fanfiction contest going down over the next week and Twilight Sparkle: Night Shift is one of the contestants. I've been the editor for this story for a few months now and, bias aside, it seriously is one of the best dark fanfictions I've read on this site. You should totally read it and then vote for it. Of course, use your fair judgement; in the spirit of fair competition, I encourage everyone to read all the entries and make up their own minds about which one is the best. And then vote for Night Shift.
As an aside, I also helped out on the first chapter of Of Steam Gears and Wings, which means that 50% of the finalists in this contest have had input from me. Sweet.
