Sorry about only having an Interlude this week, but I've been split between this and my other project Universe lately, which is only going to get worse because Universe is entering the final stretch already, and so will demand more attention.
The finale also came and went. I'm not going to bother listing out all the cool shout-outs and stuff here, because most of the commenters on Equestria Daily already mentioned most of them, and the Episode Followup post is coming soon, and those are always fun. Instead, I'll just give my thoughts on the biggest aspects.
One, cool villain. She's actually the most threatening one so far, and much as I love Discord, looking at her purely as a villain she clearly wins. I predict a lot of fics exploring her character and the changelings in general. There's just so much potential there, especially considering how little we know about them. How good any of them will be is up for debate, but this should prove interesting if nothing else. Also, calling it now: Some writer out there is going to realise that Shining Armor's shield at the end just threw the changelings all over Equestria, and is going to write about how that completely fucked everyone outside of Canterlot. I just know it.
Two, this episode had honest-to-god fight scenes. That was something I didn't think I'd ever see, but lo and behold, the main six beat the ever loving shit out of like fifty shapeshifters at once. And it was glorious.
Three, we actually saw someone defeat Celestia. Wow. I honestly did not expect that. I wish the fight had lasted longer before she got curb-stomped, but it was cool when it happened.
Four, I actually really liked Candence. The real one I mean. Though I was disappointed that we didn't get more background on alicorns this episode, especially since the Queen was also sort of alicorn-like.
Five, Luna cameos. I was shocked they acknowledged her at all, but I'm glad they did.
Well, that's all for now. In addition to all that, I've started playing Skyrim again, because I finally finished all the Fallout 3 DLCs. To give a brief summary of what I thought of each of those;
Operation Anchorage was a novelty that quickly wore off, and I really did not like how little control I had over my weapons or inventory. The rewards however, are badass.
The Pitt, I think I had unrealistic expectations for. I went in already knowing that Red Eye and Fillydelphia from FO:E were based on this, and I was expecting some kind of grand epic, with a more developed cast of villains than what I got. The good stuff like the morally ambiguous choices and the arena fights were over too fast. I spent most my time collecting steel ingots.
Broken Steel raises the level cap to thirty, which is a fucking godsent, let me tell you. Finally, I got all the perks I actually wanted, and negating that ending alone is worth the price. The other stuff's good too I guess.
Point Lookout: Awesome all around. Great setting, great missions. My only complaints are that there is no real civilisation out there, and very few friendly NPCs in general. I WOULD say it gives a more genuine post-apocalyptic feel, but...Swampfolk man. They're fucking everywhere, and they ruin any ability to take it at all seriously. I mean, look at them! They're practically cartoon characters! They're also surprisingly overpowered for inbred hillbillies. Personally, I thought the tribals and smugglers made good enough enemies, and Point Lookout isn't short for ghouls, so I don't even know why the Swampfolk are there.
Finally, Mothership Zeta. It's aliens, what more can I say? They're way stronger than they have any right to be, and they have the most confusing mess of a spaceship I have ever seen. I explored every last fucking corner of that ship getting all the alien captive logs, and according to the Fallout wiki I still managed to miss some unique items and perks. Fucking aliens. They were probably fucking laughing at me because I missed their secret rooms and shit. Not laughing anymore, are you, little fuckers? Of course you're not. Because me and my posse just wrecked your shit, and now this spaceship is mine.
Well, that's all I have to say for now. Stay tuned folks, we've still got a long haul ahead of us.
