Chapter 10 of Uniformity is almost finished, just needs a few days of editing. In hindsight it and chapter 9 should probably have been a single chapter, but now they're not.

I hope to have a short Nightmare Night story done by Thursday too. I originally had in mind a story with Cadance, but that one's on a slight hold. So instead it'll be a surprise.

I haven't written nearly as much as I'd have liked lately. I could give excuses, but instead I'm going to make myself an audacious and crazy goal!

NaNoWriMo is coming up, and I usually participate. I've never really felt satisfied with my performance or my work in NaNoWriMo, despite making it (just barely) to 50.000 words three times.

On my profile page here on FiMFic, you can see that I've written just short of 450.000 words of pony fanfiction over the years. I'd certainly like to make it to half a million words, but I did say I'd be audacious and crazy, didn't I? The title of this post does mention reckless writing, doesn't it? It sure does, and I sure did!

So this is my plan for November: I will attempt to write not 50.000 words, not 100.000, but 150.000 words! That's 5000 words a day and should take me to 600.000 words of pony fanfiction. It's a very tall order, considering that I've only barely made it to 50.000 words the previous years, but I'm going to make the attempt!

One reason for this daring goal is that come 2014, I'm probably going to focus my effort on more serious, non-pony writing. I love writing stories about ponies, but at the same time it would be nice to be doing something that I can truly say is my own, not based on the trademark of someone else.

I'm going to finish Uniformity, and I have a ton of other stories I'd love to tell, including a sequel to II and a side story to Uniformity featuring Scootaloo and Luna. I won't be able to tell them all, but I'll tell the ones I can. This doesn't mean that I'll start publishing a ton of poorly edited stories. I'll take my time to make sure it's up to my usual standards before I post it. It helps that my editing always tends to add to the word count rather than reduce it.

I may not stop writing pony fanfiction entirely, but it will be more limited. But that's the future, and this is the now. And for now I have a chapter and a short little story to get done before Thursday, so that I can be ready to scale that mountain of words!
