So, year seven… and some months.

I waited until I'd gotten around to watch the final episodes before thinking about this Yearly Blog Post™ of mine. Then I wrote something in a Google Doc, and never got around to fleshing it out, nor posting. Oh well.

In case that you haven't watched the finale, don’t worry; this blog contains no spoilers, just a vague opinion of mine.

    Yearly blog: Six

    Aaand six.

I missed the date with a few days, dammit.
Regardless, sixth year of pony. Gotta' keep the tradition up!

To be honest, I don't have that much to write this year. I guess I've been falling out a bit; I've not even finished the last season of the show yet.
But, I still visit this site, as well as a few others, daily.

One Year(!) and kind of extended bio. · 2:38pm Oct 8th, 2013

(Note, this has been edited on and off. Original post date was October 9th, 2013)

One year.
One year ago today, give or take some hours. No wait, scratch that. If I'm not entirely wrong, it was even during these hours I loaded the first episode of MLP on YouTube.

Firstly, and most majorly, I want to thank you all, everyone, in this fandom. Now, that's kinda cheesy, and I've got no major story to tell. What I want to thank you for is for being creative, active and interesting. I've had – and will probably continue having – a great time around the sites I've been lurking for a year now.

So thank you; All authors writing all these great and creative fics here. All editors, voice actors, artists, musicians, programmers, bloggers and everything else that are creative here and on other sites. Thank you to all fellow people commenting around here and elsewhere, as it's usually nice to read other peoples' thoughts, and, well, around this fandom, I've seen it more than not that people are able to agree on disagreeing.

...Now wait, that sounded more “sappy” than intended. Look, what I mean is that it's great to roam around and always find something creative or fun to join in on. Or simply just to roam around and read what people think about stuff.

Secondly, not only for the case of “one year in the fandom”, but also because I'm trying to tidy my profile up, I'll mention a bit about myself, how I got to this fandom and stuff, and then link the bio to here, and therefor leaving my profile with pretty much only links to other's fics. :twilightsheepish:
I'll start with that I'm a “closet brony”, if I can can myself a brony, that is; I think I can. Hence, no one outside of family knows about me watching MLP, heh.
Anyhow,

My introduction into the MLP fandom:
If I've done my math correctly, this date, one year ago, was a Monday. During the weekend prior I had been on a LAN-party, playing different games nightly and daily. The party had a projector and main scene up.
One of the people managing the event said something amongst the line “And now for all the br...[I didn't catch this word] out there; Fighting is Magic.” They turned the main scene into a tournament of Fighting is Magic. I know my brother had been following MLP for a while, but I didn't care much for checking it out... I mean, it was ponies, right?
Then during this event, people lined up for these ponies, and when it was over, the scene was dedicated for random episodes, Luna Eclipsed first.

After seeing how popular this show seemed to be, the following Monday I decided to watch what it was about. They were easily accessible on YouTube; Episode One… Then Two… And you know the drill from there.
But, when watching some of the latter Season One episodes, I saw a comment discussing Twilight acting as a motherly figure. This made me wonder, how can something so different from the show idea exist? The comment itself, pointed towards Past Sins.
Until that following weekend, I wasn't reading anything. Be it regarding to school, or fiction, I preferred getting my information or entertainment somewhere else.
I can't repeat that now. I read the whole fic during the weekend. After Past Sins the next weekend, I read A Bluebird's Song. And from then on, it have escalated and I'm stuck here.
Add to that that I started exploring what the fandom is creating, in all medias, and I was blown away by amazement.

That's where I am now.
A lot of people say that if they'd be asked before they checked out MLP, that they would watch the show within some time, they'd laugh. I don't know, for me, the same would rather go about reading at the rate that I've been. I would never believe – and I barely still do – that I'd be spending my time on a site made for people writing long and short stories, and actually reading and enjoying them.

I'm not reading as much now as I did when I just joined, but I'm still following multiple fics, and I'm still spending my free time around here reading a new fic now and then, or the ones updating.
I tried writing a short something for the one year around MLP. But, honestly, I had no idea what I was doing from the start. Whether about where I was going, or some large-scale idea. So I gave up, heh. Writing's not for me, not yet at least, we'll see some other time.

In the end, I have no ultimate plan for creating something epic in this fandom, fun as that might have been. I'll probably continue sticking around quietly, and sometime now and then leave a comment on your fic. Or a fave, or a like... You get the point.
Now I'm off to finish rereading A Bluebird's Song, and open my first and probably only something-like-MLP-merch ever. The Rainbow Dash soda-thingy.

If anyone stuck around to the end of this post, or even scrolled down to the last line. Heh, thanks for your patience, and again, sorry for the unnecessary feed update.
I might post another blog post in a while. I have some plans for how to tidy up the recommended list using continously-edited blog-posts, but I need to create one for that. And I don't even know if there's a limit of time on when you can edit blog posts.
That's later on though.

See you all around here, and, again:
Thanks for being fun to hang around!

We don't know their origins, we don't know how they survive in the dark. What we think we know

How did you resist making a joke there? I spent almost twenty minutes just thinking of all the possibilities.

not yet at least

Heard you ^^.

Thanks for having left a trail behind so that we don't have to always go blind to find a good story. It's way more useful than you might think.

I don't really expect anyone to read this

Well, you should've expected differently.

There ya' go. Heh, that's what I mean with I'm no writer. The idea didn't even hit me.
You guys know what to do, I don't, haha. Can't say I've ever striven to write (nor read) though, so, well, that's that.

Shhh, not so loud!

Well, you should've expected differently.

Just;

Though, I should maybe have worded that part differently, like; 'I don't want people to spend their time reading about me if they don't want to'... which kinda is the same thing. Oh well. ^^'
Thanks for stopping by!

Heh. It's nice to hear that you've been able to get something out of it. I'm glad if I manage to redirect even one person onto a fic that he or she wouldn't had found otherwisly, or at least not immediatly. When, or if, that happens, it's a goal reached, haha.

Lesson learned the ... well, not hard really. The immediate way? Anyhow: Pre-read stuff when putting it public, if you want it to be as good as it can be, typo of today:

Thanks for being fun to hand around!

Wat :rainbowhuh:

Well, maybe they do, I know I don't ^^.
Oh... we were speaking about writing. Mmmmh... nope, still no idea. But I envy those who do.

You did, and it was great :pinkiehappy:.

Well, I'd say your comments are quite epic and thoroughly enjoyable to read, so that's one awesome thing you bring to the fandom at least!
