Month of Our Equestria · 5:23am Oct 1st, 2013

So, like, flippin' ages ago, I started a side project called Our Equestria. It's in much the same vein as Death Note: Equestria, being a fusion fic with an exceptionally dark anime/manga series, in this case Bokurano: Ours, a deconstruction of the mecha genre. It was well-received at launch but didn't garner nearly the same level of popularity, and was initially rejected by EQD for a few issues in the first chapter, mostly the labyrinthine web of character introductions. The second attempt was also rejected, but came with the promise that a few small fixes were all it would take to land it on the blog. By that point, however, I'd started to slow down. I asked myself: what is this story for? Death Note: Equestria eats up most of my fanfic writing time already. I already have one hyper-detailed, ultra dark fanfiction floating around out there; what do I need another for? And so I let it sit for a while as I mulled this over, one chance for submission tingling just outside my field of vision.

And now, now that I'm done DN:E season 2 and a convenient lull has begun, I've made my decision. I put hours of work into my Death Note crossover, slaving over every chapter and editing it to a polish. When I'm in the mood for that kind of writing, I have it to fall back on. And so, for my lesser-known project of passion, OE:

Screw EQD. I just wanna have fun with it.

Starting now, October is now the month of Our Equestria. My new goal is to reverse my usual challenge to myself and emphasize quantity over quality, going NaNoWriMo on this story and pumping out chapters as quickly as I possibly can. Given how large the lapses in my chapter output have been lately, this feels like just the trial I need to punt myself back into the game. Just how many words can I write in a month? (Aside: I knew someone in high school who once NaNoWriMo'd 100K. I swear that woman is a literal Mary Sue.) Ultra writing challenge gooooooooooo!

(Also aside: I haven't forgotten about DN:E 30, it's just floating around in the hands of my editors. Any complaints about my schedule may now be directed at them.)

(Also also aside: Do not actually screw EQD. They seem like nice people.)

If they are nice people, that's all the more reason to screw them, as long as they are the opposite sex or otherwise compatible (whichever applies) :pinkiehappy:

Much as I'd like to read some more DNE NOW, I understand that you need to reduce the amount of smoke coming from your ears from all the thinking - I guess I'll give a try to Our Equestria.

To everyone else: I have already done my part as editor of ch 30 - so don't look at me. :derpytongue2:

Hey, that's cool with me. It can't hurt you at all when it comes to Death Note, and I sure know that we can always use a break from things we love.

Plus, something different to read!

Do whatever pleases you, I say.
