Does anybody even read these any more? · 5:10am Sep 19th, 2013
Like honestly, I've been dead on this site for pretty much an entire year if not more. Still trying to decide if I should even bother working on my current story... Does anybody even still read fanfiction? My star list has 96 chapters awaiting me. My Read Later is 41 things I will likely never read.
You know what did it? One word.
Trotcon.
That's right. However many months ago, I went to my first anything convention ever. While sometimes it was fun and entertaining, I was too overwhelmed with the pathetic nature of 90% of the population therein to actually give over half a shit. I know this is going to sound incredibly insensitive, but the sheer number of strange, huge, or mentally deficient people shocked me to the core. I thought we were "normal" on average. Most of the normal people seemed to be the ones working the artist's alley. Turns out the reality of this fandom is something I never should have seen. The show is great, but some of you guys are weird and need to either get on the treadmill or get outside or get help.
Yeah so with that off my chest, I'm going to work on my last story... Or it may be one of 2 last stories but I doubt it. I'll make the adventure story a non-pony one and put a link in here for anyone who might want to read.
But yeah, now that college is in full swing, don't expect much.
AS one of those people who need to get on treadmill or go outside more I can tell you that I agree with you. I would be offended but I certainly a far cry from normal but I also agree with you, it will be sad to see you go though. Good luck with college.
What's really patheic is the fact that some idiotic convention is what did you in. College is understandable, but the last thing I want to see is someone whine about the fandom and leave the site because they can't handle reality, granted, this is better than some of the stupid reasons I've seen posted by other people for leaving.
But far be it from me to try and stop you. I hope for your sake that you can find something else to enjoy in your free time, and accomplish what you set out to do in college.
1359670 To be honest, I think half of them just acted strangely because it was a convention. I imagine these people are usually far more introverted and wouldn't act halfway as stupid under typical circumstances. I've still got one or two stories I need to write, so I'm not gone for good. But I'm definitely done reading for the most part. While the stories are good, keeping up with them takes up too much time out of my day, and now that I've switched majors to CmpE, I really have a lot of shit to do.
Edit: your name is really creepily similar to mine.
1361607 I think the real thing that con taught me is not to go to another one. It left a bad taste in my mouth and that's why I've been away for so long, but I still have shit to write and may or may not finish what I've already started reading. I'm much more into Anime now, but I spend most of my time working on circuits and stuff. I'll be posting the first half of a story this week probably, so keep a look out for that if you feel like reading.
I don't know. The show is fun to watch, but sometimes I think about just how strange we really are--all of us.

Well, I can most certainly relate to losing intrest, as I tend to change from some things to others a lot, although some things have been more consistant.
However, I don't give any thought to how "strange" or "different" some things may be considered. In fact, I completely reject things such as societal norms, and determine for myself how things are, or how they should be. But I can understand how such things can be hard on others.
Also, Acchi Kocchi and Oreimo are a couple of animes that I like, maybe you could try them sometime?
As much as you've been gone for months gotta point out that cons attract the weird side. Absolutely loads of normal people are around.
