Here's where I would usually whine and ramble about why there haven't been any updates in the last month.
That's not going to be the case this time.
Look, it's no secret that I've been a lazy writer most of 2013. Sure, I completed Charm (even though the reception of the ending was "meh" at best), started Reconstruction Site (and dealt with the backlash of the mood whiplash), and updated NAWWAL once or twice (which actually lead to people begging for more... only for me to leave them waiting for months on end, completely unsatisfied), but it hasn't exactly been a productive year for ponefic thus far.
And I'm going to change that.
Starting this week, I'm going to get a schedule going. The schedule will not be like the failed ones of yesteryear. In the past, I've set myself a deadline for a release date. This time around, I'm going to work more towards getting myself to write daily (back when I was releasing NAWWAL chapters on an every-other-week basis, I was only typing the thing... oh, around 4 days of those 14). So long as I get myself in front of a word processor to work on ponyfic, and only work on ponyfic (no reddit or youtube or other junk to distract me), then maybe I can get some stuff out at a decent rate. The stories are there; I just can't keep my mind in one place long enough to get the words down on (digital) paper. I know my schedules haven't quite worked out in the past, but... I don't know. I have a good feeling about this one.
Also, I might start working on getting some one-shots and/or short stories out. Recently all I've been working on is long-form stuff. Maybe occasionally whittling away at something a little more contained and, well, easy (not saying one-shots are easy, mind you, but doing something you don't have to keep going at a steady pace for hundreds of thousands of words is a bit easier on the ol' soul) could help spark the creativity fire within me. Working on more lighthearted, comedic fics might also help out—both of my in-progress fics are of the punch-you-in-the-gut-with-a-spiked-wrecking-ball variety. Who needs angst when you can have a comedic western staring Rarity and Octavia?

I might start using this blog for something more... productive-ish as well. Maybe reviews/reccomendations, maybe essays, maybe just more pictures of Rarity being silly.
On a complete side note, as you may know, I went to Bronycon a week ago. I'm not going to go on about how fun it was, because while it was a blast, I'm completely late to the party, and you've probably already heard everything I'd ramble on about many, many times before. It did, however, spark something within me. I've never done much when it comes to the "community" aspect of ponefiction. I've generally been the kind of guy who writes fics, reads fics, and little else. Meeting all these awesome writers at Bronycon made me realize that was a big mistake on my part. I want to get more involved with the fic community. How I'm going to do that remains to be seen. I may become more involved in groups and group discussions, I may give proofreading/editing/reviewing a shot again, or I may simply start commenting on stories I read rather than leaving a thumbs-up/thumbs-down/favorite and going on my merry way because I've developed the delusion that I have nothing significant to add. Regardless, I'm going to try to be something more than "that guy who wrote that fic that was in the featured box that one time."
In short, I'm going to change. I've been coasting for far too long. It's time to hit the gas.

I adored Third Time's a Charm to the ends of the Earth, and I am stupidly looking forward to you writing more and more on Reconstruction Site. You literally took a shippin couple that I thought was impossible, and not only made it possible, but beautiful.
Also hearing Rarity curse like a mechanic was stupidly funny.
Keep on writing, because that story captured what it's like to not be sure you are in love, and then realize, yeah, you are completely in love.

If you want to talk, you could try the #fic IRC channel on Canternet. It's the only ponyfic channel that I know of besides #fimfiction, which I haven't heard good things about.
