And at last, after a bit more time and much more stressing than I had wanted, Mare in the Mirror has been updated and there's a little short bonus chapter as promised too.
The updates to MitM are very minor. Mostly just cosmetic fixes plus making sure all the details match Fillystata and Stitch. The biggest change is that in chapter 5 the griffons are now harpies (I was told long ago that griffons aren't scary), and the story now uses the official map rather than the one by hlissner on deviantArt.
I only did one editing pass, partly because it's so much work, and partly because I realized early in the process that I'm not very happy with how much of the story is written. I just sort of lost the will to do anything beyond the most strictly necessary, because anything else would be more or less a complete rewrite.
As for the bonus chapter, it's a little one about Nightmare Moon and also should answer some questions about what happened to Midnight. I hope people will be happy about its conclusion. It was written pretty quickly, but I think it's really kind of beautiful.
It's been a lot of work, and I should have expected that, of course. I am glad that I got it done, but now I shall definitely look forward to go back to writing new stuff rather than fixing old stuff. And maybe doing some art too.
