    Bronycon 2019

    The last Bronycon...

It was fun. Certainly fun, though also a bit of a LineCon 2019, too. Had a bit more than 10k attendees. That's a good numerical sendoff.

    Wanderer D

As most here who have read my stuff know, I'm good friends with another author here named Wanderer D. Many may have read the crossover chapters we wrote for the Sweetie Belle Chronicles.

    My Little Vacation

Finally out here after a long day of flying and driving at old Lake Tahoe for a couple days of skiing and maybe a gamble or two at the casinos nearby...
As a few know, this means no weekend updates of Platinum Crown, so just FYI
But I should be back on track the next week, I think.

Hey, I know I’m a lazy updater and all. I’m like the worst author on the site when it comes to blogging. But I’ve been answering some backlogged comments, especially on my frontpage and a few PMs. I figure I can find something to write for my frontpage, too.

First: that problem from before! That fic that got to me.
I wanted to say that, well, you can tell from the TPC updates over the last month, but I’ve gotten past it. You know, I think what really helped finally "deal with it," in addition to all the support and good will of my readers and friends who commented on the post I made, was the same thing that caused the problem in the first place.

As TPC readers know, there’s some mind control going around there, mostly and overtly on the part of the changelings. That was why what I read in that Mass Effect fic sort of hit home, because I was writing something related to what so disgusted me. It didn’t even matter that they were differences and degrees of abuse: that I was using it predominantly as an expressly loathsome weapon used by an immoral enemy, rather than one friend and comrade shoveling abuse and cruel humiliation on others who put their lives on the line and are repaid with what is basically the ultimate betrayal.

Oh, see? That fic. Still with me, even now.

But I’m writing things my way, and to some degree, I’m using the inspiration of what I read as a lesson. Like passing a car wreck and feeling, if only for that one trip, like “I better drive carefully.”

Anyway, on to other assorted topics that may be of some news or interest!

“This Platinum Crown” is nearing completion. After working on it for more than a year, it is fast approaching the final arc and climax. I expect to finish well before the end of the year.

“Eros Dreaming” has unpublished epilogues, which I will see to as soon as possible. At the latest, this means it will be my new primary work after the end of TPC. Ideally, I’d like to do them before, since people have been waiting so bloody long for them.

After that… who knows?
(I really also have to get back to Reflections Lost, but that isn’t MLP, so I don’t think I have a lot of readers of that here)

Oh yeah, I remember that thing that you mentioned that one time...*shudders*

Would love to see some updates to Eros. Looking forward to it.

Wait, Platinum Crown's almost done? Jeez, it's been going so long that it feels weird to think of it being finished. Any idea how many more chapters we can expect to get, or would you rather keep that a surprise?

I must confess that I haven't even begun This Platinum Crown as yet; I guess I'm a little intimidated by it seeming quite different from The Best Night Ever in tone, and fearful of TBNE somehow being depreciated in my memories if I don't like TPC.

Oh dear, that was neurotic, wasn't it.

Maybe not a lot of readers for "Reflections Lost", but you got me! Poor Lathis is crying without you, wondering what's the deal with all this pony nonsense that's taken hold. Actually, I do wonder what he thinks of your new fandom hobby. :raritywink:

I haven't read much Ranma 1/2 lately, as I just don't have the drive for that series as I used to. Ponies have dominated my days and I have no regrets!

Whatever you are working on, I'm sure it will be glorious! Keep at it!

1072272 You shouldn't worry about it. If worst comes to the worst you can just convince yourself that it's an unofficial sequel.

Me, I love it, but I stopped reading a while back while I work up the courage to go on. It's... hefty. There's a lot to get through.

TPC almost done? Where will I get my dose of awesome? I'm loving this universe hopefully you revisit it sometime.

This'll be one of those stories that I'll both love and hate to see finish. I can't wait for the ending, but once that end is here I know I'll be all sorts of melancholy about never getting to read any more of it.

Mind control can be a rather loathsome thing for one being to do to another one in any capacity. After reading the Dresden Files, your opinion on mind rape can never be the same...

Ahh, I've had one of those fic-rage moments.

For me it was about slavery. Had me wanting to scream and flip my desk over. The sheer, unmitigated injustice and unfairness of it all. It has forever coloured my view on the subject, and is one of the few things that get me to the point of wanting to strange someone, to this day.

That being said, I think the way you handled Bridesmaid Lyra was very well done. You certainly do make it seem like something negative. The feeling of dissociation you get during the whole affair was a good take on it, as it gave you a chance to have Lyra object, but to still have that paved over. However, you withheld the bias enough that we aren't sitting there wondering why she hasn't already broken free, as might have happened if you'd stressed that aspect further.

Jim Butcher is great at that.
He takes these oft-fetishized concepts and really shows you how horrible they would actually be.
