Nonsanity

An off-again-on-again writer and father of a pony-fan. Incessant poking will make me write more/faster, by the way. (That's not sarcasm—I need reminders to write.)

    Pinky the Kitchen Zombie

I've got to say that today's episode, "Every Little Thing She Does," struck a familiar note at one point: Pinky in the kitchen under Starlight's version of the "Imperius" curse. It was amazingly close to a scene in Words Failed Her where Pinky was madly baking in a magic-induced trance—except Twilight, at least, had the presence

    Pre-pre-readers?

Once again I'm looking for some pre-pre-readers to gather some... market research, yeah, that's it. I want to see if a story idea has legs and is worth following through on. So I've got 5k of words that could use some eyeballs and feedback. Any volunteers? I'll set the first few respondents up with a private GDocs copy of The Story So Far where they can make comments to their heart's content. No

    Relevant Al

That's "Al" short for "Albert," not "A.I." or "Artificial Intelligence." This is regular intelligence, hard at work. Watch it and improve your own. ;)

    Emotional Contagion Spread Through Facebook

Maybe Twilight needs to find a way to prevent herself from seeing cat videos and meme images if she ever comes to our world. She wouldn't want to take our digital infections home with her now, would she? I like it when life imitates art (sorta).

    Of Chaos Born

I'm working on a origin story for a particular villainess that does not begin with anything like a normal childhood. Her path here is far more transformative and closely intersects with that of another historical figure—one who's story I also plan to tell in a parallel tale—but her's is far more fun to start with. What follows is a first draft and prone to massive editing changes, as these things

Words Failed Her Audiobook - Testing, Testing... · 1:45am Apr 19th, 2013

I'm putting together a simple audiobook recording of Words Failed Her. To make sure the sound levels are working across many different systems, I wanted to put up a short snippet and see what people think? If it's good, I'll do the whole story like this and link to it here in the blog and from the story itself.

So if you have one minute and 34 seconds to spare, take a listen and tell me how it sounds. Thanks! :)

I like it, the voice is perfect for this sort of thing- I say go for it

Works great on my iPhone 4S

I'm playing it on my laptop at maximum volume, and it's just loud enough to listen to. In anything with weaker speakers, I probably wouldn't be able to hear it. Can you amplify it a bit?

Thanks, that's the sort of detail I needed to know. :)
