It's the fifth of the month, so you know what that means...
That's right! It's time for another in-depth analysis on clop!
Specifically, I'm talking about Rule 34 statistics. For those of you who have missed the previous entries into this series, I've archived them below.
Strap yourselves in, (if you like that sort of thing). We've got a lot of porn stats to wade through.
As of April 5, 2013, here's the state of Rule 34, according to Rule34.paheal.net:
Pokemon still holds the lead with 58,698 images. 827 new explicit images were added during March, giving Pokemon a 1.4% increase in porn from last month.
Touhou is in second place with 37,340 images. 1,589 new explicit images were added during March, giving Touhou a 4.4% increase in porn from last month.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is in third place with 27,303 images. 1,652 new explicit images were added during March, giving My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic a 6.4% increase in porn from last month.
DC Comics is in fourth place with 20,346 images. 398 new explicit images were added during March, giving DC Comics a 1.9% increase in porn from last month.
Naruto is now in fifth place with 15,416 images. 469 new explicit images were added during March, giving Naruto a 3.1% increase in porn from last month.
Street Fighter is in sixth place with 15,324 images. 210 new explicit images were added during March, giving Street Fighter a 1.3% increase in porn from last month.
Marvel Comics is in seventh place with 14,340 images. 299 new explicit images were added during March, giving Marvel Comics a 2.1% increase in porn from last month.
Sonic Team is in eighth place with 12,169 images. 588 new explicit images were added during March, giving Sonic Team a 5% increase in porn from last month.
Digimon is in ninth place with 10,335 images. 129 new explicit images were added during March, giving Digimon a 1.2% increase in porn from last month.
Idolm@ster is in tenth place with 10,184 images. They broke the 10K barrier for the first time in March, making Idolm@ster the newest member of the club.
Pokemon produced the most porn in February, while Touhou did the same thing in March. After spending two consecutive months in second place, My Little Pony has finally returned to its rightful position as the highest monthly porn generator.
In related news, Street Fighter was surpassed by Naruto, which is now the fifth-largest Rule 34 generator. Believe it!
You may also have noticed a new name on the list. That's right! Rule34.paheal.net now has ten different intellectual properties which have each exceeded ten thousand explicit images. Ten is a nice round number, so for the sake of this list, I'm only going to include the top ten Rule 34 producers.
When the cast of Idolm@ster found our that they were part of such an exclusive club, this was their reaction:
If you live outside of Japan, it's very likely you know next to nothing about Idolm@ster. What's fascinating about the series is how relatively recent it is. Idolm@ster premiered in 2005, which makes it the second-newest series on the list. (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is the most recent, having premiered in 2010.)
Needless to say, it will be exciting to monitor Idolm@ster's progress. I can't imagine it'll stay in the tenth spot for long.
Idolm@ster is a phenomenally-successful Japanese arcade game. At first blush, one might assume Idolm@ster is similar to Touhou. While both games are huge in Japan and feature more than a dozen pretty girls, that is where the similarities end. Whereas Touhou is an intense "bullet hell" shooter, Idolm@ster is a pop star raising simulation game.
In Idolm@ster, the player takes on the role of a manager whose job is to propel a young woman to super stardom. As the producer, the player chooses a potential starlet from amongst various girls with distinct personalities. The player "levels up" their teen idol by taking her to lessons, engaging in promotional campaigns, and winning auditions. The end goal is for her to become "Top Idol."
One notable feature of the games is the “touch” feature. Certain story points will ask the player to touch their teen idol somewhere on her body. This feature is somewhat controversial as most of the girls are underage, but inappropriate actions will often make the idol upset.
The popularity of the series did not go unnoticed by corporate giant Microsoft. In 2007, a version of Idolm@ster was released for the Xbox 360. On the day of the game's release, Microsoft sold four times as many Microsoft Points for Xbox Live as they had the previous day. During the following years, several Idolm@ster sequels were released for the Xbox 360. The series also branched out with games for the Playstation 3, PSP and Nintendo DS.
Idolm@ster also has a manga series, (like everything else in Japan). The game's popularity generated a huge fan community known as "NICOM@S." The Idolm@ster series achieved overwhelming success in Japan thanks to the support of this group.
It came as no surprise when Idolm@ster was given its own anime series called Idolm@ster: Xenoglossia. The anime series was set in an alternate universe and was made by Sunrise. Directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai, it aired across Japan from April to October 2007. The series centered around mecha and re-imagines ten prospective idols as fighter pilots of those robots, with eight of them posing as students. Xenoglossia has no relation to the games apart from its characters.
The series received... mixed reviews.
A second Idolm@ster anime, produced by A-1 Pictures and directed by Atsushi Nishigori, aired from July 7 to December 23, 2011. The series was more faithful to the games, including being voiced by the original voice cast from the games.
An Idolm@ster anime film adaptation is set to be released later this year. It'll be interesting to see how the series progresses from here. I'm curious if the brony fandom would like to see an MLP game inspired by Idolm@ster? Would you play it?
Before I forget, here's an update on Rule 34 images for the mane six:
Twilight Sparkle has 4,077 images. 176 explicit images were added during March, giving her an 4.5% increase from last month.
Rainbow Dash has 3,646 images. 158 explicit images were added during March, giving her a 4.5% increase from last month.
Pinkie Pie has 3,196 images. 150 explicit images were added during March, giving her an 4.9% increase from last month.
Fluttershy has 3,070 images. 153 explicit images were added during March, giving her a 5.2% increase from last month.
Rarity has 2,581 images. 156 explicit images were added during March, giving her a 6.4% increase from last month.
Applejack has 2,516 images. 137 explicit images were added during March, giving her a 5.7% increase from last month.
Congratulations to Twilight Sparkle for amassing more than four thousand porn pics! How does it make you feel?
I see Twilight's a little preoccupied at the moment, so let's turn our attention to Fluttershy, who also reached a new level of lewdness last month. Kudos to Fluttershy for accumulating more than three thousand explicit images! What do you have to say?
That's what I thought.
As a special bonus, here's a video of Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle making out.
Special thanks to Infinion, who made these nifty graphs of the data I collected.
One last thing before I go. For those of you who can't get enough hard data, here are the results of a recent poll I took from amongst my readers. I received votes from 148 people.
