    Ponyfeather Edition of Mendacity!

Very, very belated post, this, and I daresay many folks who would be interested in this have already found out one way or another on their own, but better late than never, I suppose. As of, um, about a month ago, Mendacity is available to order from Ponyfeather Publishing, in both hardcover and softcover editions!

    Not Dead Yet!

Well! Um. It's, ah, been a while, hasn't it? Lots of water under the bridge, lots of stories unwritten, lots of comments unanswered...

    Calling all artists!

Well! The first chapter of my de-ponyfied version of Rise and Fall is complete, and all that remains is the final tidbits and tiddlywinks for those folks who most generously opted for one of the higher reward tiers. I just completed the illustration for the chapter this evening, and, well...My artistic chops, it would seem, are not quite up to

The Rise and Fall of the Dark Lord...Sassafras?

Yes, you read correctly; Sassafras, not Sassaflash. Having mulled the idea over for some time, I've decided it's time I began writing again—and my current rather impecunious state helped me narrow down what to write rather nicely. The possible Celestia fic I mentioned may still happen, but today is not its day—nor will my own worldbuilding yet see dawn, as that's still in rather too

The Rise and Fall of the Dark Lord Sassaflash is Complete!

Exactly what it says on the tin. More than 100,000 words later, my tale of an angsty necromancer and her unflappable minion and friend has come to a close. Here it be. If you haven't already taken a gander, and if you liked Mendacity (or heck, even if you didn't), please, take a look—and if you've

Story the Second · 10:55am Mar 27th, 2013

Well! It's been quite a while, hasn't it? Longer than I had intended, in fact, and for that you all have my apologies. Even the loneliest river wends its weary way at last to the sea, though, and the thinnest crescent Moon will wax to fullness in time (full Moon tonight, by the by. I think, odd as it sounds, I'll be trying to tie future story updates to the lunar cycle; the Moon makes a very obvious, regular timekeeper, and unlike the arbitrary days of the week it offers a clear, tangible sense of the passage of time). Before another twenty-four hours have passed, I'll be posting the first chapter of my next story. The promised epilogue to Mendacity will be arriving not long afterwards, by the time the Moon is new, and chapter 2 of this new story will be coming either then or at the next full Moon. As to the story itself...well, I feel I owe y'all something of an apology. I asked, after posting the final chapter of Mendacity, whether you'd prefer me to write a sort-of sequel or a new story with Lovecraftian elements, and most voted sequel. I tried to get something satisfactory down for that, but for now at least the ideas aren't quite flowing as they like, and I'm not sure how to tell the stories I have in mind. So, instead, we'll be exploring the lives of a different set of characters, some time before the beginning of Mendacity--before, in fact, Discord's return to Equestria, though not long before. There won't be any romance this time, but there may be shoggoths, ghouls, and mi-go, and while they're not quite the same thing as True Love I hope they'll prove to be an acceptable substitute.

Wait, so you're doing the Lovecraftian one first? YES!!! I am soooooo happy. While I would have loved the other one, I need something else. And what better than ponies with Lovecraftian influence/lore. All my yes.

I think a big reason why so many voted for a sequel to Mendacity is that they wanted something of an epilogue.

We never got to see any of the romance & other interactions between Lyra and Bon Bon post-resolution back home in Ponyville.

I can't wait! :pinkiehappy:

aaaaaaaaaaaaa

Now I need to learn Earth's moon's cycle just to know when I'll get a new update :raritydespair:

Lovecraftian elements are fine, though the real problem with importing them to other settings is they lose the dwarfing of the protagonists in the face of powers they can't comprehend or stand against when the protagonists can blow up gods with the power of Friendship (Or love, or whatever, depending on the setting you're importing them to).

Yes indeed--although when it comes to that, that was a problem that plagued even Lovecraft's stories. An eldritch abomination from beyond the stars powerful enough to be called a deity should not be capable of being defeated, even temporarily, by a steamboat to the sternum. Nor, for that matter, should it be feasible for a human armed only with a gun to take down a smaller but still immensely alien and, ostensibly, powerful being (Rhan-Tegoth, we hoped for so much more from you. So very much more). We'll see how well I succeed in including Mythos beasties without making them completely ridiculous cardboard cutouts, I suppose.

Also: Story finished, working on cover art. Apologies for delay. Expect submitted in an hour, accepted...well, that I can't predict. It's a-comin', though.

More world-building and mythology incorporation? I really can't wait!
(Seriously, I started looking at the mythology of other cultures because of Mendacity.)
