So, after finally watching Rainbow Rocks...

I really feel a strong desire for a slice of life oneshot featuring Sunset Shimmer.

I feel like there's so much potential for that character. I'd even be okay if she appeared in the main show.

She's like a Trixie but done better. But how overdone are the "lol sunset becomes good and goes back to Equestria" redemption fics? I don't know, but it sure won't hurt to have another one like that.

Oneshots might not be bad after all

So in my previous blog, I commented about how I'm planning to write a new adventure fic instead of the oneshots I usually wrote.

However, lately, I've been feeling a spark to write little slice of lifes, which might be my favorite genre.

    Returning?

Hello, to anyone who remembers me.

So I've been absent for quite a while, and it will be almost two years since I wrote my last fic.

I've been thinking about coming back to write fics, and yes, I've said this a lot of times before, but this time I feel like it's time to start typing again.

    Fic in progress

I've finally started writing. The fic name will be named after another Beatles song and will feature Cheerilee + certain filly.

Don't know exactly when I'm gonna finish it, but just to let you know.

PS: Thanks for the 1,000 followers. If I had like 400 more, I'd be in the top 50 most watched users in FiMFiction.

    Upcoming story

So, two months ago I said I was gonna come back.

It's been a year now since I wrote my last fic, and now I'm ready for a new one, featuring Cheerilee.

    I hope I haven't forgotten about semi-colon and dashes.

Picture two users with 1,000 followers each · 6:58am Mar 6th, 2013

User A never writes clopfics
User B writes clopfics

User A took the staircase
User B took the lift

Prove me wrong.

It's easier for User B to get to 1000 followers due to what he/she writes. Therefore, he/she took the lift which is far easier than taking the staircase.

893765
he's saying the the person A got most, if not all, of his watchers by having excellent story plots and great writing while writer B when for the sex plot ( which ill admit there are a few well written ones out there) which is big on this site for stupid reasons

The users I pictured before clicking this blog was TAW and Blueshift, fittingly enough.

893770 It's a passive-aggresive way of saying that users who write clop fics either to get lots of followers, or who end up with lots of followers, are lazy. Lazy people ride the lift, also called an elevator in some countries, and hard-working, non-lazy people take the stairs.

But what about those who hit it really big with their first [non-clop] fic?

Does that mean Person C took an exploding dynamite?

893780>>893776
Well... I'm halfway there and I don't intend on ever writing clop:yay:

... Are... we talking about me and you?

893788
Don't know. Hitting big with a first non-clop fic is such a rarity these days.

893785
You get it.

893799
Uh... no?

lifts can go down just as easily as they went up. making it to the top with stairs means you will stay there and it will be alot longer to fall back to the bottom.

lifts can also fall out of the blue and totally finish user b, while user a stairs will not crumble below them. and they can always see when they are falling back down and make the necessary steps to start climbing back up.

Hitting big with your first non clop fic is nigh impossible (only time ive seen it done is with the story "My Mother Moves the Moon" but hitting big with the fourth or third isn't too bad. That's like taking a few stairs and then riding a rocket. that is what happened to me. i haven't been featured just yet but it is only a matter of time. I've already hit popular twice, once at #5 and another time within top 15 on my 4th story.

893810 Whew! For a moment there, I thought I'd, like, made you upset or something. Anyways, gotta get back to writing. We'll talk later. Okay Stary?:pinkiehappy:

893842
The Changeling Princess hit the featured list actually. I know because I knew the fic from it.

893853. Wait.... WHAT?????? So that is why everybody was congratulating me for getting featured....And I didn't get a screenshot of it!!! :raritycry:

It's a trend that's likely to last for a good while, if not for as long as fanfiction is written.

Thankfully there are those out there who have reached their numbers through trial and talent in different genres.

Metaphors, metaphors everywhere.

Its true though, clop writers get a lot more followers more easily. People like to jack off and clop can help them do just that.

Plot twist: There never really was a lift.

It was just an empty elevator shaft.

User B never made it to the fic writer meeting.

But he did make it to...

...The Twilight Zone.

Discussion over, you win.

MMmm yes, delicious internet points /)(\ :pinkiehappy:

Being the ignorant American I am, I had to look up what a "lift" is. :derpyderp2:

But yeah, I get it. User B takes achieves everything that User A does, but he takes the easy way out, whether it's being a popular writer or simply getting to the next floor.

Of course, this logic applies to all media, not just fanfiction. Want to get famous on DeviantART? Just post some pictures of naked women. They don't even have to be artistic.

This is the internet. It practically runs on pron and the broken souls of people too proud to use its power.

Writing good clop is art in it self though. On the other hand what I find a little unfair is that writing a popular shipfic will get you lots of views despite the quality of the fic being lower than it gets credit for. On the other hand if you write something dark, adventure or the similar, your story most likely will get less credit than it deserves. And this comes from a guy who loves writing romance stories.

I dont know, its hard to know if it is a lift, cause alot of people dont like the clop fics... but i think that sometimes its kinda good to use a "optional clop chapter" on the fics, anyways its just thing of opinions...

PS: Sorry for my english, im just learning

Umm... forgive me. I do not understand what this blog really means. Can anyone explain it?

893871 Don't worry, there will be other fics... (snigger)

MMmm yes, delicious internet points.

Why did I just hear this in Peter Lorre's voice? :raritydespair:

894932 You have earned this: :facehoof::raritycry::pinkiesick::flutterrage::facehoof:

Eh, some people don't want to work harder than they have to. This presupposes they can write worth a damn to begin with. Clop may be popular, but if it reads like a hyper-active 3rd grader wrote it - I will mention no names - it won't get very far. Doesn't matter what it is.

... And then there's me, who writes good stories and good clop, and I still haven't breached 50 followers.

Maybe my stories aren't so good :ajsleepy:
I feel sad right now...

895078 Yes, I know I am an idiot. I just don't get the staircase/lift analogy. I mean, if both have 1000 followers, they must have gained them at approximately the same rate, correct?

896095 Not really. It takes longer to climb stairs, and it's hard. A lift/elevator is easy, and most move faster than a stair-climber.
That's the analogy: You'll get the followers faster with clop than anything else.

...Then what's the escalator, shipfics?

894101 That's it, I'm over

I have an idea for a clopfic and I always take the stairs.

895089

Hey! That's insulting every 3rd grader with ADHD who turned into a grammar nazi! Including myself!

896112

I can climb stairs faster than an elevator. I can even run down an escalator before an elevator.

1294745 If that's not a contradiction in terms, I've never seen/heard/read one. :rainbowderp:

1294751 You and your doctor must be on a first-name basis. :facehoof:

1295706

...What? I don't know what you mean. I only wrote it that way because I did not feel like trying to write a good sentence to express my feelings. It's not like I was using text talk or anything really bad. Trust me, I can write with very few grammar mistakes when I really want to.

1295710

No. I only ran up or down them about three times. Once during a teen only night at a museum, and the other times were at malls. I actually got congratulated at the mall for getting up so fast. People can be so strange these days....:scootangel:
