More songs for "Love Songs in the Key of FiM" · 12:50am Mar 11th, 2012
I have an ongoing musical project where I am writing love songs for all of the possible Mane Six shippings. The first installment of these (featuring RainbowPie, RariJack, FlutterDash, and AppleDash songs) is available here.
Today's installment features songs for TwiPie, RariShy, TwiDash, RariDash, and FlutterPie. All video links have full lyrics in the video description sections.
"One Little Kiss"
(TwiPie)
"So Beautiful"
(RariShy)
"Let's Fly"
(TwiDash)
"Faded Glory"
(RariDash)
"If I Said I Loved You"

I think you have a knack for this, DB. Not that i'm surprised - I already knew you could write, after all.
You play well, too.
My favourite of your songs is definitely Then She Smiles, for completely sensible unbiased reasons. It's totally not just because it's PinkieDash. At all. Nope. They're all excellent though.
It interests me that Faded Glory is clearly a failed relationship song. Why is that, out of curiosity?
"One Little Kiss" and "So Beautiful"
I don't have much to say about these two. I just think they are really sweet and nice.
"Faded Glory"
I find this couple really interesting because of how their personalities are kind of similar. They both undertand the desire of being... More.
"Let's Fly"
I hate you... I really do. And you know why? Because you make me like TwiDash! And I don't want to like TwiDash
Seriously, I think that was my favorite song.
I'm not sure of what to do next...
"If I Said I Loved You"
I don't like shipping Fluttershy, but I think she and Pinkie make an adorable couple.
Well, that's basically what I think about your songs.

Hee. Thanks.

Aww, thanks for saying so. I don't think I'm as good as music as I am at writing, but I like doing it.
Ha, ha--RainbowPie IS the one true ship. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised that my own bias towards that ship resulted in a better song. I do love me some RainbowPie.
So, "Faded Glory." First, I'm trying to mix it up a bit with the songs--have some in first-person, some in third-person, set during different points in the relationship, stuff like that. So not all the songs will be happy. (The RariJack song is also a failed relationship song, albeit one looking forwards instead of one looking back.) But mostly, I think my gut-level reaction to RariDash is: It wouldn't work long-term. I'm not sure why. Maybe because I think the similarities that would draw the two of them together would also be the things that would tear them apart?

Aww, thanks for all the reviews of the songs!
"I find this couple really interesting because of how their personalities are kind of similar. They both undertand the desire of being... More."
YES. Yes, I agree completely. I think RariDash is very interesting, for those exact reasons.
"I hate you... I really do. And you know why? Because you make me like TwiDash! And I don't want to like TwiDash."
Hee! I felt the same way after I first read the first TwiDash and AppleDash that I liked, if that makes you feel any better. *pat pat pat* But I'm glad you liked the song, TwiDash though it may be.
"I don't like shipping Fluttershy, but I think she and Pinkie make an adorable couple."
If you don't mind my asking, why don't you like shipping Fluttershy? I'd be interested to know your reasons.
Also, if you haven't already seen it, I recommend the Ask Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie tumblr for maximum FlutterPie/PinkieShy adorableness.
29921 TwiDash is my favorite ship... hey, why do people combine the names and all that stuff? Nobody's bothered to explain it yet

I hope I did right by TwiDash! I do try to not screw up others' ships.
I am not sure of the origin of the use of portmanteau names for ships, but I've seen it for years in a number of different fandoms. It might come from the real-world use of such naming--such as when actor Ben Affleck was dating singer and actress Jennifer Lopez, and the tabloids referred to them as "Bennifer." I'm not sure, though. That's just a guess. As for why, my guess would be that it was originally used to indicate a relationship where both partners seldom appeared without the other, were always together, etc., so that they seemed to almost be a single entity rather than two individuals.
As for my own usage, I just picked it up from others already in the fandom and started using it as the widely understood way of demarcating the ship.

A more serious answer: Thanks for explaining that

Is really simple and kind of stupid. It's because I find it soooo boring! Cute, but boring.
And yes, I like Ask Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie.
