Important Update · 8:05am Nov 11th, 2011
So I have some bad news and some good news.
The bad news is that while writing the current chapter, I came across a MAJOR continuity error with my overall message. Unfortunately, this resulted in me having to practically scrap about six pages of writing. This, of course, means that this next chapter will take longer than I had originally anticipated.
On to the good news though. I will split this up into two parts.
Luckily, I caught the error as it happened. That means to say that none of the previous chapters will be affected or currently suffer from this error I have made.
As for the next bit of good news, while this setback may cause some anxiety amongst many of my readers, I am quite pleased with the changes that I am making to the chapter. It is coming out much better than I had originally planned.
I would like to thank you all for your patience with me and for reading my fanfic. I really appreciate it.
On a related note, since my interpretation of Rarity's parents has proven to be false, would I need to add an [alternate universe] tag to my story?

Don't think you have to. Alternative universe is more of a huge change, not just a small one of two characters with barely twenty seconds of screen-time.
just put in a very small disclaimer saying "This story was written Sisterhood Social, and thus the canon depiction of her parents were not known at the time of writing."

I'd have recommended an Alt Uni tag if you had begun the story after the episode aired, but wouldn't worry about it now. If you want to get really technical, the show never said those were her biological parents. You could still be right.
