Sonson-Sensei

Sonson-sensei here, how's it hanging my precious students. Not much I can say about myself in such a short blurb but I'm a writer and artist that happens to like ponies. Rarity is best pony.

    Psst

So the way I planned on picking a winner for my follower competition was to use random number generator. Your number would be based on when you followed. For example Darkman_224 was my first follower so his number is 1. However it seems like everyone I pick through random number generator for my follower comp never respond. So I figure I'll do it like this, if you want the OC drawing prize, just

Some news, a competition, and a bit of discussion

I guess it’s been a while since I’ve done a blog post, only a couple of things to report. First off, so what about that opener to season 4? Personally I thought it was okay, the pacing at the end was a bit off. Regardless it was better than season 3’s opener.

    Story Updates

Sup guys just thought I give a little story status since I’ve been M.I.A on that front. As for A Zoologist Dream, I’m just about finished with the chapter, it’s sitting at over 14k so my longest chapter to date and I should be done with it by tomorrow. After that it only needs to be edited.

    Update: Story Status

Well I guess I haven’t been the busiest of beavers recently, in fact I did next to no writing throughout March. Hey but there’s a reason behind it. I won’t say life got in the way, it was actually video games.

    First Blog

Well it’s come to my attention that I have some followers now and I’ve never actually made a blog post, so uh here it goes I guess.

Funny how I’m nervous about a little blog post when I post written work on a fiction site to be scrutinized by all. Well I digress, I suppose telling a bit about myself is as good of a subject for a blog as any other.

So I’ll go ahead and talk about how I got into this fandom of ponies. In truth I went a long time without knowing what the hell My Little Pony was, let alone brony’s and the fandom behind it. Most of my time is spent with the FGC (Fighting Game Community) And believe it or not this is where I discovered MLP. As I was browsing the forums of SRK, I came across an interesting thread, about a fighting game titled MLP: Fighting is Magic, being developed by a team calling themselves Mane6.

As far as fighting games go, I’d give any a fair shake before I dismiss it, but how surprised was I to find out that this game didn’t feature traditional fighting game characters, but brightly colored ponies. At first glance I was just like, are you fucking kidding me, what is this shit? But after watching game play and seeing that the game was indeed a legit fighter despite using cute ponies as combatants, I found myself looking forward to it. After which I needed to know where these ponies even came from, hence how I was lead to the show and massive fandom behind it.

I won’t lie, I felt like a complete jackass the moment the intro started to play and I was close to just turning it off. It didn’t help that my eleven year old sister walked into my room then proceeded to laugh at me for what I watching and leave as though she were too cool for the show herself. Despite this I swallowed my pride and marathond the first season. After which I was caught hook line and sinker. The rest is pretty much history after that.

Now on to some story related news. The next chapter for A Zoologist Dream is over 5k right now so it’s moving along nicely. As for Different Shades, as you’ve probably noticed I’ve put that story on a bit of a hiatus for the time being. Don’t fret it will be finished, I just want all my focus on one story to lessen the stress of constantly shifting between stories.

Also in the interest of extending A Zoologist Dream longer than I intended, I’d like to hear some ideas of some small sub plots that could perhaps be implemented. From what I have mapped out and what needs to be accomplished for the story, it has maybe seven chapters left before it finishes. I know that doesn’t sound like much, but each chapter from here on out will be a minimum of 9k so there’s still a good 60k worth of story to tell. Anyway thanks for reading. And I’ll leave you with a picture of my awesome Rainbow Dash fight stick enjoy.

turrible picture quality, but that's my stick

What is yours? looks similar to a friend's hori, but his is an 8 button

805045 Fighting based video games, that work better with arcade cabinet style controls.

805191 Nothing tragic I hope.

805321 Yeah it's a hori sc5, but I changed it to a six button layout, when I modded it.

Ok. I'll tell you. Prepare yourself.

It all started a bit ago. I was doing rather good in school. Ok let's say average. I had a girlfriend and everything seemed to be ok. Seemed.
One day in school, at brake time, my girlfriend walked up to me and told me, that she had to talk with me. I thought nothing of it and followed her out of the building. Once outside she turned to me and said it was over, because she couldn't trust me anymore. She didn't say why, only that it was over. She said that we could stay friends, but ignored me completely after this. You can imagine that I was broken. I started to eat because I saw nothing else to do. Also my grades made a skyfall and I barely managed to maintain an average grade. Each passing day I sunk into my depression deeper and deeper. I had a choir trip back then and hoped that it would help me out, but every time we had some spare time and could play our own songs on the piano they always decided on sad ones about breaking up like 'someone like you' from Adele. It just made everything worse and I even ran out crying. After the trip I was nearly done. My parents kept fighting and arguing about nothing and my father complained about everything I did. You may think it was nothing or not so bad, but every time he did, he screamed in my face and I shrank to the size of a flea. Nearly everyone around me was either ignoring me completely or treating me like dirt. So one Friday night I said to myself that I would end it all. The pain, the humilations and the sorrow. I decided to commit suicide the next day. I stayed awake the whole night just watching TV for nothing. It was nearly 6 a.m. when I decided to zapp through our 35 channels once more and then kill myself. I was at the 34th channel when something caught my eye. Guess what. It was My Little Pony. They just aired the first episode in my country (Germany) right then. I said to myself: "Meh. What harm can it do to watch it. It's over soon, so I can enjoy a cartoon for the sake of the good old times for one last time." I watched it and since they're not airing double episodes as such here and for this had a cliffhanger, I decided to at least watch the rest of the episode when it came. I looked up the date and time in the channel menu and saw that it was the next day at the same time. So I decided to stay awake the second night in a row to watch it. I could still end myself later on. But as I watched the rest of the episode I warmed up again. My hate and pain frozen insides slowly melted and regained the ability to live. I was overjoyed with the show. It had great characters, matching each other very well. Even with their seemingly big differences. I started to love the show instantly. I stayed awake every Friday and Saturday night to watch it and when the season was over I watched for it on the internet and found this beautiful community. It really saved my life.
Hope it wasn't too long and boring.

Dragon:moustache:

Just wondering, but you are doing a sequel to A Zoologist Dream? Your recent chapters have introduced a number of interesting ideas, such as the Seven Anomalies, and seeing those explored would be nice.

Agreed, I'd really like to see those areas explored.
