Past Sins is a fic · 7:58pm Feb 6th, 2013
I, uh, hmm.
I'm not really sure how to say this. So let's start with some background.
I read AbsoluteAnonymous's "Games We Play" over about a three-four day span. Yes, the entire thing.
I read Ponydora Prancypants's "Flight of the Alicorn" over... well, chapters prologue-3 a few months before I read the rest of the story, which I read over three days.
I read Cloudy Skies's "Lost and Found" over two days. I read it on the bus, went to school for 3 hours, read it on the way home, got home and read the rest of the night. I had a snack between 3 pm and midnight. Didn't even eat.
This is the reason I don't read incompletes. It has nothing to do with trust in the author's ability or fortitude, but more with my habit of reading things I deeply enjoy at ludicrous speeds. Well, not speeds, but in bursts.
So you may have noticed I haven't made any, like, Past Sins blogs or anything.
That's because I just finished to today. I started reading past whatever I had blogged previously, on Saturday, and any moment I wasn't studying or playing 10 hours of Xcom, I was reading Past Sins. Actually, I've come to finish it.
There are words I have to say about it. But I have to go to Cultural Anthropology right now so let me say some things.
1) I really enjoyed it. I am not at a time where I can equate personal enjoyment with overall opinion of the piece, but I had a great time reading it. I wouldn't have rushed through it if I didn't like it.
2) I think it has some issues, which I'll get to. I think most of it comes down to long summaries of events/thoughts (which is a style I still use and therefore am conflicted in citing it as an issue) and how Twilight/Nyx were formed at the start of the story.
3) If 5/10 is my "average" rating, then 7/10 is where I'd put this story, rating wise.
Since this is a blog and I'm arrogant/vain, I'll post more thoughts on it in a bit. Either tonight or tomorrow, idunno. Calc 2 exams need studying.
past sins more like past SUCKS m i rite? LOL
xD sick burn #egged #reckt #blazeit
I read it as it was being written all that time ago, it was enjoyable.
Unfortunately, when the sequels started, I couldn't get myself to reread it, I found no enjoyment trying to do so.
Guess it's one of those 'read and forget about it' fics, at least for me.

A 7/10 from you, friend, is a score I can be happy with.
