Wow...A Year Since Friendship Became Magic!! · 1:31am Jan 24th, 2013
Hello my again, my friends! I have some fun news to share with all of you and my current progress on my Luna fic.
Now in regard to my blog title. It's been a little over a year since I became hooked on "My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic"! It was around the middle of January, last year. I had mainly just been enjoying art from the show and the various talented artists. Now it's a little funny what finally led me to watching the show and collecting G4 pony swag. Well, thanks to good old 4-chan, I saw some rule 34 art and was curious just what other forms existed, so like a curious colt, I googled "My Little Pony Rule 34" and ended up on e621.net. I found quite a bit of both work safe and NSFW pics fitting the bill, as well as some plane beautiful completely work safe pics that I found simply amazing. That and I read the endless slew of comments on some of the more catching pics. In the comments I kept picking up little hints about the show, even more than I got from 4-chan. I saw that there were real-life aspects that the ponies appeared to be dealing with that made me wonder...just what is this show like. I mean the original flier for it in one of my Transformers - Generations figures didn't impress me. It said - ""My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic" - Follow the adventures of Twilight Sparkle as she learns the joy and spreads the magic of friendship." That hardly piqued my interest. The adventures part sounded interesting, but the whole friendship thing reminded me of the super sugary overlay of the G3 specials. But after checking out e621, I figured let's see what this show is all about.
I went to Hub.com (back when they had more than just clips online and before I discovered full episodes of the whole series on YouTube) and I watched my first full season 2 episode - "Baby Cakes", well even though the overall episode was only about Pinkie Pie, it was more than enough to whet my appetite and hook me onto the show. In fact since the other main six didn't have much of a role, it left me wanting more. Plus when I saw the end credits, I jumped. I've known tons of shows that Tara Strong has been in, "Transformers - Animated" had been one of the more recent ones. And I marveled at the rest of the cast names I recognized: Andrea Libman, Tabitha St. Germain, Cathy Weseluck. I knew them from the G3 specials and countless Anime series, so that also made me want to see more, because I already enjoyed their acting and figured, let's see how they do here. I soon watched my second episode which was also season 2 - "Family Appreciation Day". While it still didn't give me a full on taste of the most popular characters, it hooked me more onto the series. In fact after just two episodes, I finally couldn't hold back, I had to go to Walmart and buy some G4 ponies. I'll admit I have a collection of G1 and G3 pony figures as well. But hey, I've been a brony since before we had a name for ourselves. =D Anyway, just a little more to this story I want to share. As usual my local Walmart didn't have too much at first. Plus I didn't know how much I wanted to spend. I was still getting used to the style of the G4 toys. So I first picked up a Fashion Style - Twilight, because she was a nice size. Then I picked up small figures of Fluttershy and Twilight with scooters, and a basic Applejack and a Rarity, but Rarity came with a super bonus! When I went to Walmart I remembered some of the G3 ponies coming with DVDs. So I was hoping I could find a G4 pony toy with a DVD and wouldn't you know it, Rarity came with a DVD featuring "The Ticket Master". I had no idea what season it was from or what it was about, I was just thrilled to have another episode to watch. "The Ticket Master" did me in for good. Since that episode, I've been hooked ever since. I watched that episode at least 6 times the day I got it.
Over time I found a nice array of episodes on YouTube. I loved the pilot. Nightmare Moon was incredible, even for a villain and then I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw that she had been turned back into Princess Luna. I had a crush on her before I even saw her in the show. I was taken by her pics and wondered why she seemed so sad in many of them. Watching the pilot was a real eye-opener. But I didn't completely fall for Luna until I saw "Luna Eclipsed". (In fact I watched that episode this morning at breakfast). It's featured on the "Adventures in the Crystal Empire" DVD. But anyway, I digress. Even though Luna had trouble fitting it, I just loved seeing a episode with so much Luna!
And then soon after getting into the series I kept up with the fandom on e621, until I discovered a link to a Luna fic on there that let me here to e621! Back when I first found and read "Moon Phased" by Silent Author, I never dreamed I'd join this site and become one of the more popular writers on here.
Now, in addition to it being a year since I got into FIM, I want to share two more upcoming facts with you. First, I added a little more about myself on my profile - my age and birthday! My birthday is in two days - Friday. So that should be fun! And coming up on March 19th I'll be celebrating my 1 year anniversary of being here, on FIMfiction!! So there's a lot of fun things happening!
Before I end this blog, I want to share two story related thoughts. One about my new Redheart fic and the other my status on my Luna fic!
Well, I can say with confidence, that my third Nurse Redheart Story - "Until I'm In Your Hooves Again" has been successful. It may not have been quite as successful as "More Than Their Customer" or "Her Gentle Hooves" were off the bat, but considering its length, I've confirmed my suspicions. Many of my readers are savoring it, by reading the three parts little by little, which is just fine by me. It makes me very happy, knowing my stories are enjoyed to the point that many of you don't want to be done with them in a matter of hours.
For my Luna Fans, Chapter 10 of "A Total Eclipse of Their Hearts" is coming along nicely. I've got three more scenes to complete and then the chapter will be ready. I've got roughly 3,000 words done, which continues where the cliffhanger left off. I'm thinking of saving the next love scene for chapter 11, seeing as chapters 9 and 10 have a bit of a dark overlay. I'll see once I get through some of these scenes and can figure out how long this chapter is going to be. I can say now with my improved skills the new love scene for ATEoTH will be my best for the series and I'm planning on making it no less than 3,000 words including cuddling, foreplay and the love/clop itself. I've already got some really great ideas for it, plus a very strong emotional reason. And to mention the love triangle, just briefly, I've got a series of ideas, but until I get to the key event between David and Twilight, I won't know how I'll have him proceed just yet. I may have him slip off the fidelity wagon or I may have him stay totally faithful to Luna. All I know is this is mainly a romance between him and Luna, but I thought adding some drama from Twilight might help add even more depth to this story. As I've been saying, I have my thoughts on how I want this proceed. With there being three possible outcomes.
Well, I've already rambled on too long. Better stop before this really becomes a TL;DR blog! lol Take care my friends and enjoy some more Luna pics! One thing is for sure, over the past few days, I've completely re-stoked my passion for Luna. For a while I thought she was going to lose her spot as my #1 pony for good, but she's not going to give it up to Redheart or her Sister without a fight! =D

So you got into FIM during the middle of season 2 eh? Interesting. I myself got into it before season 2 began and the series premiere is what got me hooked. The part where Celestia and Luna made up almost made me cry, and the show was still brand new to me! That's how I knew the show was good.
Luna eclipsed is an awesome episode. Though I'm really hoping Celestia gets her own episode, maybe sometime during season 4?

Nice to read a personal blog every once in a while (You forgot to tell us your age, pal!), It's always fun to read how people got into Ponies in general. Regardless of which generation, though, I think it's safe to say a good majority came in at G4.
Like you, I'd found out about ponies through 4chan, mostly through reaction images plastered on every thread I was in. I noticed how popular it was around early last summer and was always confused by how much hate it got from the community, though, I was on 4chan. I remember stopping by /v/ one day and seeing a banner near the top of the page explaining that there was now a MLP board so that everyone would stop spamming every other board with pony threads. I took a stroll over to /mlp/ and was basically just trying to figure out why everyone was so taken with the show, I didn't decide to start a thread or anything, but I just skimmed over some conversations, watched some linked videos and oogled some art.
One thing that I think sparked my interest were some rather risque screencaps from the show. At first I just thought that some of the more rabid fans were just trying to find that one perfect moment to screencap a scene and make it out to be something else entirely (see: perverted. Mainly ones of Twilight's special dance with Cadence. You know EXACTLY what moment I'm talking about
), but as I soon found out, the show actually gave nods towards the community every now and again. Which I thought was so cool of them! I didn't browse /mlp/ for very long, maybe a few days max, but when I started to notice the bronies seeping out on to other websites I frequented, I had to understand what the cause of this "outbreak" was.
I was getting ready to head to sleep one night, finishing off a movie I was watching on Netflix. Desperate for something to hold my attention until I was ready to drift off, I was filing through the categories I wouldn't normally go for and there it was: "My little Pony: Friendship is Magic". I couldn't pass it up, I had to understand the fandom and learn about the characters I'd previously seen in all those best pony threads and reaction images. I randomly picked an episode to watch, decided on an ep for season 2 (figured if the animation was bad, the second season may've been my best bet) and landed on "Lesson Zero".
I LOVED(!) that episode, looking back on it, I don't think I would've picked out a better starter episode than that If I had to introduce the show to myself. It was damn funny and though it focused on Twilight more than anyone else, I just enjoyed seeing all the other characters involved in her "situation", trying to tell her it'll be okay. Forgetting it was a kids show, I half expected her friends to get her down about the spell she let get out of hand. To my surprise, they... Well, you all know what happened. Lol.
Anyway, I'm thankful for the Brony and Pegasister community spreading their wings all over the internet and sparking my interest enough to watch an episode of a show that I didn't think would be much, but would eventually lead to me to watch all the others multiple times over.

Yeah, I'd enjoy seeing Celestia get her own episode. I was rather disappointed at the latest episode. When I heard Discord was coming back, I thought...hmm...Celestia episode with Discord as well...but it was what it was. Not necessarily bad, but I dunno, something about the whole episode felt rushed. And yes, ATEoTH is coming along nicely. You won't get a complete answer as to how he survived that, but you will get your curiosity stoked! 
I am so remembering why I love writing this story! 
There are plenty of times that part of the pilot leaves me feeling misty-eyed as well.

I've got one comming up. Sorry if my little stint on Redheart was too much, but A. I held a vote and Redheart won, B. I'm taking a break from her for a while. So no worries. Right now, Twilight, Rainbow, or Vinyl will be my next pony to get a 2nd-person story. Plus I am getting more ideas for my Spa pony sequel. I was hoping to have more progress on everything, but my rotten job just won't slow down. Thankfully I have two days off, thanks to getting floating holiday for my b-day, this weekend! So I shall have fun doing some more writing. Oh, and to answer you question, I'm suffering from no lack of inspiration. If anything, it's too much inspiration. Luna, Celestia, Nightmare Moon, Aloe & Lotus, Derpy, Vinyl, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Rairity, more Luna, Lyra, Rose, Daisy, Lily, Fleur De Lis, the list goes on, and I have so little free time to write about these adorable mares. So if anything I have too many ideas, not that I'm complaining. At least if one idea goes dark, I can hop to another and keep writing. Though I have developed special techniques to combat writer's block before it can fully occur!

Re-read it. It's great, except all three love scenes should be redone. Well the third one anyway. I have a fourth planned, either for chapter 10 or 11, which will be infinitely better, especially since I got better with them, thanks to my Spa ponies fic and my Redheart Series, oh and my Nightmare Moon short story as well. And have no fear, Luna and I a still very close. In fact she's standing here on my computer desk. She's pushed Redheart and her sister back in their places. She's not giving up being my number one pony, and I'm more than okay with that. In fact I was on the verge of tears the other day when we listened to some songs that inspire me, just before I work on "A Total Eclipse of Their Hearts"!

Anyway, that was an interesting tale of how you became a brony, and how ironic that your first episode "Lesson Zero" is one of my all-time favorites, right up there with "Luna Eclipsed". In fact, "Lesson Zero" was my inspiration along with "A Canterlot Wedding" Parts 1 & 2 for my upcoming 2nd-person human x pony fics starring Twilight called - "For Whom She Sparkles". I love how "Lesson Zero" had plenty of Twilight, but what I really enjoy is the cameo Celestia has in the end! She and Luna need to be in more episodes with far bigger parts/roles. And I too am grateful for this awesome fandom and community. I hope it never ends!

746512 With the latest episode, I first thought the plot was kinda strange. I didn't think Discord could be reformed because he represents chaos. I was actually hoping he couldn't be reformed and the lesson would be that not everyone can be your friend, but that didn't happen. And yes, the episode was a bit rushed, especially at the end when Discord all of a sudden realizes he likes having a friend. The episode wasn't bad in my opinion, I still liked it. I also wonder if this means Discord will now be a regular character?

Not to butt myself into the conversation, but I do agree with what's being said here. I wasn't expecting Discord to be changed so easily from having a friend after being encased in stone for over 1000 years. But it was still pretty heart warming once he broke down and accepted the nature being guided onto him.
that said, this episode could have greatly benefitted from being a two parter. I think that's why everyone feels it's so rushed, 'least for me. I wouldn't had minded if they just took the time to develop the situation more.
As for Discord being a regular character, I think he'll probably get as much screen time as the Princesses have been whenever they decide to show him next.
Enjoyable episode, but not something that I felt lived up to the 3 week break / hype.

There was some I left out (R34 and how I found FIMFiction), but I can't help but remind myself often how lucky I was to run into the show on Netflix after such a long time of being interested. Should have just checked Youtube for the eps in the first place...
"Lesson Zero" has easily become one of my favorites for sure, even after watching both seasons I think that's the one episode I can always turn on and watch at any time. Twilight's ridiculous facial expressions are an easy highlight of that episode. Lol. "A Canterlot Wedding" was a great pair of episodes, even surprisingly dark. The music in those episodes, though, were just plain fantastic. "This Day - Aria" and "Love Still Blooms(?)" I feel are the catchiest songs in the show for me, and this is coming from someone who would hum "Winter Wrap Up" nearly everyday since they first watched that episode!
Can't wait to read your Twilight fic, man. Talking about all this has sorta rebuilt my love for Twilight!

I love Discord as much as the next guy, I think he's a great contrast to the main characters and, hell, the whole of the show in general. But I think to much of him will kill his character in a way, not because of the ol' "Too much of a good thing is bad" saying, but I see that idea stemming in two different ways.
The first, is that if Discord IS living with Fluttershy, then the Discord fans are going to be asking where he's at if he doesn't become immediately apart of the main cast. It'd be a waste to have him stay in Ponyville but never see him, right? Princess Celestia clearly has plans for him and his abilities so placing him in Ponyville would seem like a huge waste on Celestia's part (and in turn, the writers). He's better off in Canterlot, off screen for now, imo.
The second reason is probably just my personal feelings, but I don't think Discord would be a good fit for the main 6 and their daily lives. He's a great comedic character, but the idea that he'd be involved with every lesson learned at the end of each episode just doesn't feel right to me. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing him engage in the season premieres and finales from here on out. Whether it be fighting against a new evil, or some large predicament that only HE can solve.
I dunno, pal. Discord seems like the character you want to preserve and show every now and then, not too often.
747013 Hmm, you do bring up some good points. Oh, I should say that the reason I asked why is because I just wanted to hear your opinion. Personally, it wouldn't bother me if he started appearing regularly or not as I just like to see more of the main cast having adventures and going about their daily lives. By main cast, I mean the Mane Six as episodes about Spike and the CMC haven't really impressed me too much, with the exception of "One Bad Apple." Damn, that song is catchy.
How much you wanna bet that Discord may lend a helping hand in this season's finale? OR...maybe he's just faking being changed and the finale is about his revenge!
...Okay there's a pretty big chance the second thing I said won't happen, but it's still fun to think about. I kinda like stories about backstabbing. Someone who was on your side, but then they turn to the other side or they were working for the other side all along. But that's just me.

Yeah, the Spike and CMC episodes aren't always great, the latest one where Spike was trying to service AJ for life was kind of fun though. I still can't believe he counted all those blades of grass!
Bad Seed was alright. I don't hate the CMC or anything but, like Spike, they should be kept at a certain level. Applebloom's darling little voice makes me die everytime I hear it.
I pray for Discord to be evil again, the scenario you just wrote is just dark enough to fit well. But sadly, I think that side of him is gone for good. I'll miss evil Discord...

Though it may contradict my lack of concern for the characters in the show, I take Sweetie as my favourite CMC with Apple Bloom a close second. And Discord is hardly "evil" he's more likely unpleasantly mischievous.
To you GorillaJab, the song you're thinking of is called "Love IS IN Bloom". But I have to say it, I find Winter Wrap Up to be the most irritating thing I could ever hear, right up there with At The Gala and Rebecca Black's "Friday"

All I know, is i'm going to take that time to work on some more writing. A new novel idea in fact will be part of that. Don't know if you recall from one of my past blogs, I mentioned a new idea for fantasy novel, in which I will be creating my own ponies, inspired heavily by Faust's creations and the story "The Last Unicorn". Which this weekend I'm going to be going to the book store to purchase a copy of the novel. But my new novel isn't just about ponies, it's a vast world filled with magic and wonder and will answer the question - "Where have all the magic using humans gone?" 
Well in that regard, since my B-day is coming, I took my floating holiday for sunday night so at least I finally have a two day weekend, sort of. At least i have two days off in a row for a change. And it looks like the same will be true next weekend seeing as my "benevolent employer" is switching my entire shift from sunday night to thursday night and making us monday night to friday night, finishing our "normal" work week as of satuday mornings now. Which has it's pros and cons. Least we get another two day weekend out of it.

Yep, I'm an older brony. Yes I was into MLP back when the G1 episodes were new. My collection only had two ponies back when I was around 6 or 7. In fact my dad was dead set against me having any of the pony figures. He was stuck behind the stereo type that boys don't play with girl toys. So my mom bought Gusty and Mimic for me and pretended they were hers, or told me to hide them somewhere when dad was around. But years later...and now that I'm an adult...I used Ebay to get the G1 ponies I never got as child for very reasonable prices. And better still, after seeing the crap some people do out there in the real world, my dad has no problem with me being a brony. In fact he was on board with joining my mom in getting me some pony swag for my B-day. Hopefully my present arrives tomorrow, in time for the day! But even if it's a day or two late, it's no biggie.
And speaking of Twilight...she was my first favorite G4 pony, before Luna stole my heart. I can't forget how much I have in common with her...well other than the OC checklist thing she has going on.
All I know is i have a fun story in the works for Twilight, should be right up there with my Redheart and Spa Pony stories!

748147 Believe me, unless it's a debate on how much I abhor ships/couples/pairings like Sparity and FancypantsxFleur and of how it should only ever be Fancypants and Rarity, you don't need to worry about me getting in flame wars with anybody.
And maybe the episode WAS rushed, but I really can't show any concern for something like that. As for Celestia's expression, she looked that way after Fluttershy said "when you get to know him he's such a sweetheart" or something to those words. So maybe I can SEE your concern/s even if I can't SHOW any myself.

Just wanted to say that I'm very happy for you...It must have been frustrating growing up with the "boys don't play with dolls" mentality in your home, but it's wonderful your mother was supportive and your father seems to be the same now....reading things like that really are just so good, in that it's very hard for many people, even the adults, to escape the stigma....especially when it comes from family; one thing are random strangers or idiots on the internet...but it's hard against family.

I wouldn't be happy with David 'cheating' Luna; I loath lies, and I fear that I would become dissconnected from him as a character if that's the case. However, he is not me... But in all honesty I don't think it would work continuity-wise to have him to go for Twi over Luna, nor would it be within Twilights chacter to deceive and manipulate.
