Redheart Update & My Thoughts on MLD!! · 6:31am Dec 31st, 2012
Phew, that was quite a week! Thank goodness it's over! I didn't do much of anything last night, mainly because I was spending time with my best friend and a buddy of mine that was on leave from the navy. We had dinner at Chili's and then watched a bunch of movies. The fun thing from last night, well from simply eating dinner and watching one of the movies (Project X), I got some great ideas for my Vinyl Scratch story. Though I'm not sure how soon I will be getting to it. I have some of my followers asking about my other stories that sorely need updates. Plus Rainbow Dash keeps bugging me about her story, so I'll have to play things out carefully. At least I'm not at a loss for ideas or inspiration! =D
Now, as for today, I've finally gotten a major fix for my writing and made some wonderful headway with "Until I'm In Your Hooves Again"! Once I got into my element, I was able to crank out over 5,100 words today! The story is now at 20,320 words and I still have at least 5,000 to 6,000 words to go. I had no idea this story was going to end up this big! It will most likely top 25,000 words or more! But I am roughly at 75% to 80% now. I completed the first love/clop scene today, and it turned out beautifully, and with no re-writes needed. It will need smoothed over in editing, but that's no biggie. I also got into what I'm calling "The Meat and Potatoes" part of the story. So I'm about to start a scene I've been mentally planning for this story for weeks now! I have roughly four scenes to go till this is done, including the second love/clop scene, which will play a vital role in completing this amazing story! I'm just amazed at how well things are turning out with this! I'm so glad I'm not rushing this.
Now, there was another matter I didn't have time to touch upon last week. Now, I'd like to. LunaLover1990 recently shared a comment in one of my blogs, stating that he thinks my stories are only second to "My Little Dashie". Well, imagine my thrill at someone even comparing my work with ROBCakeran53's legendary tale! So, I figured, it's time I buckled down and took the time to read this story. I'll confess, the main reason I avoided this story, was not because of it's fame, but rather, I was told it's quite the tear jerker, and lately, it doesn't seem to take much in a story to make me shed a few tears. But I felt it would help my own writing if I did sit back and read it. There's a certain mood I'm hoping to capture with my newest Redheart fic. If I play it just right, there won't be a dry eye in the house (or at the very least, many of you will shed manly tears), following the story's pivotal moment!
This is why I decided to read "My Little Dashie". Now at first as I began reading it, I was like, "What's so great about this?" That was roughly 3,000 words in. It didn't take long for me to see the story bloom into the epic that it's become! By the end I was never more thankful that I had my plush Raindow Dash. I'm glad she convinced me to hold her while I read this, especially at the end. I confess, I actually cracked out a few strong sobs. I haven't cried that hard in a quite a while. Even though I still had my Dashie, I felt her daddy's loss, just the same. In fact, as he was hit with that flood of memories from his time raising her, I couldn't help but think of this song from season 1 of Pokemon: from "Pikachu's Goodbye"
That song alone usually makes me tear up, but thinking about how fitting its lyrics were to MLD just made me shed more manly tears, and hug my plush Dash even tighter.
I added to the epic following of this story by thumbing and faving it. And I have to say, I think it really did help me stir something from deep within myself. I just might be able to use this in my new Redheart story. So here's hoping. I'll know when I resume work tomorrow. =D

When I read the story first time, I nearly cried myself dry I can tell you that.
But I would know of someone in the world who doesn't think very highly of MLD (to the point they may actually hate it) and what they criticise about it has made sense to me even if I can't remember every little detail that they said about it. In the end, though, we all think differently about many things and I still think the story is good, just not so great.
Onto Redheart No.3 now, I can't say I have been eagerly awaiting its release like I did Her Gentle Hooves (is that correct?), which I find is the more exciting of the two currently released stories of her from you. I'm not sure what made Hooves of an Angel fall flat for me, but I couldn't bring myself to post on it whether good, bad or something neutral.

Cool to hear that the story is coming along nicely. As for MLD, it's hard for a story to make me cry, but MLD had a hard hit on me. Even as I type now, I can feel the tears start to well up from remembering it. Anyways, I am still patiently waiting for your fic.

I have to agree with you, that song does apply to a number of the other characters - even Twilight and Celestia, unless the show producers make Twi and alicorn. You know, I was pleased I even remembered that song from Pokemon. It's been several years since i last watched the series.

Yeah, this will be my longest short story yet, and I know it does sound funny to say that. After tonight, I have close to 23,000 words, and I have two scenes left to do, including the last love/clop scene.
I really want to work on Rainbow's story, and that gif does make it hard to say no, as do saying not, while looking at my plush RD. Though I have some readers suffering from Luna and Celestia withdraw. I may need to update those stories first. I dunno yet. I need to finish this Redheart fic first.

Wow, I didn't know he hates his story. You think he'd love that it's so popular. Oh well, to each their own. And I held of reading it cuz I knew I was going to cry. Anyway, the new Redheart fic is nearly clomplete. Two scenes to go. Oh and those two scenes you helped me out with, they turned out great! I even found a way to add a little fun and playfulness around them and think they have a nice somewhat sensual and naughty overlay.

I'd have to agree with you about MLD. It's a good story. I only call it epic/legendary due to the following surrounding it. But I'm not sorry I read it.
In some ways, I like "Her Gentle Hooves" better myself. I am pleased with the sequel, but I know what you mean. In some ways, it feel a little short. Ironically, I think the two questionable scenes may have helped the first one, more than I thought. That and the first one takes place at the home you and Redheart share, offering more slice of life to the mix. I think you'll enjoy this 3rd one. It seems to capture the spirit of the 1st and really expands upon it. That and it sets up the stage for the fourth story too!

I heard that rumor as well. I pray it's not true. Because it would kill the series. The show is supposed to be about the magic of Friendship and Twilight's adventures involving it. Thankfully I don't think it's coming to that. I read reviews discrediting her becoming one, in light of new merchandise featuring her as a unicorn, set to release following the end of season 3. I just hope the rumor that season 3 is only 13 episodes is hokum, because the others have all been 26. And if they are only doing 13 that will really hurt the show's longevity. I suspect the reason that rumor began is that the producers only announced 13 of the episodes. They did that last year. Around March or April the rest of the episodes began showing up on episode guides. So here's hoping! Anyway.

As for thr season only being 13 episodes that might be true. I remember reading something that said they(Hasbro) are doing that because the show was so succesfull, which actually makes no sence, and that they waned to give time ti new shows. Supposedly there might be a fourth season.

Yeah, I know there are other parts of MLD, but I wasn't sure where they are or how good they are. Some tested well and others flopped. And as I mentioned, i didn't read it before now, because I was told how sad it was.
Now as for my Redheart fic, Not sure how soon till it'll be done. The rough draft should be done soon, but with over 25,000 words, editing will take a few days. I'm roughly planning on finishing it by Sunday, but that may change. It depends on my job. Here's hoping.

I don't recall seeing a comment that said more than when you planned to read it. As for the fics you didn't read, that's fine. Not all my fics are good, and I know some aren't with everyone's ideal character. I'm not a big AJ fan but the idea for that fic just popped into my head one day and it was my first 2nd-person fic.

.Ohohoho trust me when i say that I heard from her. I tried my best to keep in contact with her with Skype,but with my mom here i cant voice chat. That and the fact the there havent been any new stories you are working on yours and i havent even started mine for obvious reasons she got kind of upset. So i did what any other long distance Coltfriend would do,i went on her Steam wish list and got her all the games she wanted plus a few extras that will keep her busy for a while. Man you should have heard her scream with glee. I managed to get a little call in to hear her reaction. PRICELESS!
